If we could also get the church added into the parklands and find some way to re-route traffic off Witton Lane as well it'd be even better, I think you could end up with a truly stunning area with that. Would be very difficult to deal with the traffic though.

Is there anything in that BCC document about removing the piles of rubbish that surround the ground?  So many of the complimentary comments about VP from other supporters attending the England game were accompanied by the follow up 'shame the surrounding area is such a sh*t hole'

How many times do you want them to say ‘fuck the bin men’?

I would also question were they talking about the rubbish pile up or the ethnic make-up of the people who live there with those comments. I suspect the latter with some of them.

I go into the ground from that part of town and pass the Witton station.

The biggest contributors to it looking a dump are the dodgy looking car washing place on the corner (and the first thing you see when off the train) and the 2 x garage, tyre sales, breaking yard for cars. There are loads of cars in various states of disrepair on kerbs and all round the front and even in front of the Aston Hotel.
The houses, albeit old, are usually well maintained. There used to be very strict policing of parking there back in the day, as the residents all had to show permits, but nowadays they do not seem to bother hence every possible space is taken up by said garages / breaking yard.

The car washing place was a strange addition. I always assumed the car park was owned and operated by British Rail (whatever they are called nowadays) so I was shocked it was just sold on for the car-washing.

I'm not sure it was sold as such. These car wash places pop up everywhere and idoubt they Abide by any rules or regulations for waste water etc. All that detergent goes straight into the drains.
I would imagine there arent many who work there are tax payers either.

There has been a bigger than usual problem around the Villa chippy (or whatever it is called nowadays) especially in lightof the bin strike with waste paper, cans etc strewn all over the place.

The whole area needs a compulsory purchase, levelled and redeveloped. I'm sure this is why Arteros (sp) are on board

"Connectivity to the surrounding high quality industrial areas, swill be improved, providing links to jobs for the local community. " hmmm unfortunate typo.

"The value of Aston Park as a community green asset will be optimised through better integration with surrounding neighbourhoods. Through the greening of streets and the incorporation of green infrastructure around the stadium, the area will be transformed, and Villa Park will once again sit within the grounds of Aston Hall.

These improvements will result in an enhanced visitor experience, providing an improved setting for Aston Hall, Villa Park and Aston Church within an extended Aston Park that connects through to other green assets, such as the naturalised River Tame, resulting in an improved environment for people and nature."

That all sounds rather wonderful. Can't think why we got Altairos involved...... And we haven't got a big blue jacket gobbing off to anyone that will listen, we're just working away in the background.

I'm particularly interested in the piece of the map that sections off what is currently the Away car park, I wonder if we're offering that up as a way of getting some of the park so we can extend the Holte/Trinity footprint.

That they say Villa Park will sit within the grounds of Aston Hall makes me think that we might be doing some deals....
It does sound rather good! It also challenges both parking and bus facilities.

I had a wander around the outside of the new Everton ground today, its very impressive, the mix of the old original exterior wall of the site, the redbricked lower part and then the ultra modern higher stands and roof are very well done. Just shows that new grounds don't have to be identikit Tescoalikes.

The area we need to develop next is the witton  lane .  But obviously if they are trying to integrate green areas it would make it difficult to do anything behind
