Interesting, where are these plans? Makes sense given the inner city academy and other infrastructure.

I found the bits about Villa Park sitting in the grounds of Aston Hall and pedestrianisation quite promising. “The setting of Villa Park will be transformed through the integration of green infrastructure, removing the barriers between Aston Park and the Stadium, extending the park and uniting these landmark features”. Also the bit about supporting the club’s proposals as long as any negative effects on the local community can be mitigated.

Seems that BCC have clocked the potential of having two multi-billionaires (plus Atairos), ready, willing and able to invest in a run-down inner-city area.

That all sounds very promising.

So like I dunno, a Sports Third? Something bigger than an imaginary Quarter anyway.
I think go for a Ron Saunders tribute and call it “the sports 110%”. Any “sports quarter” will sound pretty shit in comparison.

I know it’s a little bit up the road but I’ve often wondered why the Council have never thought about creating a devpt zone based around Villa Park and the Alexander Stadium as anchor points in a zone covering Aston/Witton and Perry Barr.

Is there anything in that BCC document about removing the piles of rubbish that surround the ground?  So many of the complimentary comments about VP from other supporters attending the England game were accompanied by the follow up 'shame the surrounding area is such a sh*t hole'

How many times do you want them to say ‘fuck the bin men’?

Cheers for that, thanks

"Connectivity to the surrounding high quality industrial areas, swill be improved, providing links to jobs for the local community. " hmmm unfortunate typo.

"The value of Aston Park as a community green asset will be optimised through better integration with surrounding neighbourhoods. Through the greening of streets and the incorporation of green infrastructure around the stadium, the area will be transformed, and Villa Park will once again sit within the grounds of Aston Hall.

These improvements will result in an enhanced visitor experience, providing an improved setting for Aston Hall, Villa Park and Aston Church within an extended Aston Park that connects through to other green assets, such as the naturalised River Tame, resulting in an improved environment for people and nature."

That all sounds rather wonderful. Can't think why we got Altairos involved...... And we haven't got a big blue jacket gobbing off to anyone that will listen, we're just working away in the background.

I'm particularly interested in the piece of the map that sections off what is currently the Away car park, I wonder if we're offering that up as a way of getting some of the park so we can extend the Holte/Trinity footprint.

That they say Villa Park will sit within the grounds of Aston Hall makes me think that we might be doing some deals....

I would also question were they talking about the rubbish pile up or the ethnic make-up of the people who live there with those comments. I suspect the latter with some of them.

That plan is interesting. Clearly most of the area they've identified for development is along the trainline, which makes sense, but the bit about Villa park being int he grounds of Aston Hall is open to some interesting interpretation.

Does it mean getting rid of the stretch of Trinity Road between the fork with Witton Lane and Nelson Road and turning that into part of the park again?

Indeed. Long before the bin strikes, there are plenty of people who equate presence of lots of non-white people with "shithole". Shamefully including a fair few Villa and Blues fans.

Thats what im thinking and it would be amazing. We would then be able to tidy up the Trinity/Holte corner if planning permission can be given.

Villa Park and the areas around it appears to be in BCC's plan for regeneration more widely than just the North/Villa Park.

Direction of travel indication that it is BCC preferred option for regeneration through towards Aston and Witton; to be approved still.

So like I dunno, a Sports Third? Something bigger than an imaginary Quarter anyway.

Careful, like Americans with the introduction of McDonalds 1/3 Pounder Burger, Blues will think it's smaller than 1/4.

It would make sense of the statement that eventual capacity will be 52.5k - that's the only place we could shoehorn in another couple of thousand seats within the current footprint.
