The Holte could be improved, but the cost-benefit is a non-starter.

We had one opportunity to rebuild a stand unfettered by land constraints, but have chosen to extend it instead.  If we had any serious ambitions to maximise capacity, we'd be building something equivalent to the Anfield Road stand, which would have added an extra 4-5k more than the current plan.

Getting up to 55k with that one stand would have made a hell of a difference.  As it is, we'll be topping out at 50k + whatever any further 'bowl optimisation' adds for the next decade at least.

Bearing in mind we had approval for a bigger development, this must have been a simple box tick.

That’s not how it works. The size of the previous application makes no difference.

This is correct; the new design was already inside the planning envelope so always a formality as you say.

Of course it does.  As ADS has said they had previously approved something larger both physically and capacity.  They were hardly going to be able to find a reason to turn this one down.

It does in as much as all of the principles of the development had already been established by the previous consent. So, provided that policies haven’t changed, and the new proposals are less impactful than the previously consented ones (which you would assume is the case for a smaller capacity), then there shouldn’t be any reason for refusal.

No. Increase in capacity in other stands as well.

Supposedly could reach 52k through incremental change which won’t require planning permission.

Yeah, Anfield is hideous. And I have to admit, the ‘famous’ atmosphere has rarely been present whenever I’ve been there.
it’s decent for the last 2 minutes before the kick off. Then it’s as dead as a dodo.
