Disappointed there is no theme park in the venue

They could have called it Aston Towers. Definitely a missed commercial opportunity by Heck and his team.

Keeping a regular mid-size venue going has been difficult in Birmingham for decades. The 02 duo are fine as it goes but for the older demographic getting Up Town is a pain and a half. Somewhere like this, with reasonable parking and access from the motorway,  might well be a goer.

That’s a good point.  At 7pm you’d be able to drive to the venue and park within an hour from a massive catchment area.  Offer half decent food ‘n’ beer and I reckon a gig a week is more than viable.  Add the stadium concerts in the summer and, hey presto, the Villa brand is bigger than just the football team.

Add in a few stand up comedy gigs etc you could have a venue earning well
Yeah, plus perhaps as importantly there’s a stronger case for improving the transport infrastructure if you have people using the services 5/6/7 days a week rather than just once every other week.

Not such great news for the Witton Arms/Aston Tavern I'd expect
Quite the opposite. When there's gigs on people will be looking for somewhere for a few pre concert bevvies.

Seriously though I think they've missed a trick with the name. I think they used to make/store artillery there during the war. The Artillery would be a better name than The Warehouse imo. I do however like the whole idea of what they're doing and living a mile from Villa Park I'll be hoping to make use of the place for gigs.

Could see definitely see it becoming a venue for Channel 5 Friday night size boxing bills.

I was thinking that. The last couple I've been to at the NEC sold maybe three or four thousand tickets and the atmosphere was a bit flat. This could be the boost boxing needs in Birmingham.

Yeah, can't think of too many local venues that could hold events of that size.  Darts could maybe be another one.

Guessing it will be a similar size to the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton, which is a great venue.

Will we be the only club in England with our own indoor music/events centre?

Coventry? Though I'm not sure they own it. Mind you, do we own Villa Park?

It's a fine idea and I'm all for it but the idea that it will be free entry with a match ticket won't last long.

There are some other decent venues knocking about round there if this proves successful and indicative of still more demand. The old transport museum over the road, it’s called The Majestic now and is used as a function room/wedding venue. The Aston Hotel is a lovely looking boozer from the outside, but from memory is not that roomy. Is the Rat Pan still standing? I haven’t been round that side of the ground for years.

The Ratpan is an Asian wedding venue but is always shut up on match day, obvs.
