Keeping a regular mid-size venue going has been difficult in Birmingham for decades. The 02 duo are fine as it goes but for the older demographic getting Up Town is a pain and a half. Somewhere like this, with reasonable parking and access from the motorway,  might well be a goer.

What do you think about stadium expansion, will we ever see it in our lifetimes?

Late 2026…?
Blimey, could have a new stadium by then.

Ok, video says live by Christmas 2025.

Fair enough guess I was just thinking about the big bands which they will continue to attract to VP I assume.

There's no downside to this development.

Some are moaning because other things aren't being done but they are two completely separate issues.

Not sure they are, the access needed for a NS rebuild would encroach on most of the space in front of the Warehouse, which is underway BTW, loads of contractors down there today.

I'm even more convinced we are off to a new ground.

I don't see it. They must have spent the guts (when this is done) of £50m making Villa Park better for the corporate types.

No idea if £50m is accurate but, if so, that’d be repaid in a year or two based on the increased revenue the facilities will generate.  They’ve gone for value over status, or wow factor, which suggests to me we will be in a new home by 2030.

There is no way we will be in a new home by 2030 if indeed there are any such ideas in the heads of our owners which I’m no longer convinced of.

That’s a good point.  At 7pm you’d be able to drive to the venue and park within an hour from a massive catchment area.  Offer half decent food ‘n’ beer and I reckon a gig a week is more than viable.  Add the stadium concerts in the summer and, hey presto, the Villa brand is bigger than just the football team.

I'm all for the venue, but when folk leaves matches early as public transport is at best questionable, gigs finishing later could be a huge problem.  Granted there'll only be 3500 not 45000 or so, but Witton station is still a lonely place in the dark.

The authorities bother their arses putting on extra transport when there's a gig on. It's only football fans that don't matter.

Add in a few stand up comedy gigs etc you could have a venue earning well
