The slots that are missing from the cross city line are apparently being left open for the camp hill trains to use. With University being the only stop on the side that comes close to the busy stations on the other side I do wonder if they'll temporarily have the trains on the new line carry on to Sutton.

Have you got a source for that, Paul? I ask because as a former commuter on that line it wasn’t my experience. The stations were always rammed at rush hour in the pre-pandemic days and that was with 6 trains an hour. It took a while to ramp back up but on the occasional time I get them now they seem as busy as ever albeit much more comfortable.

I can't remember but it was a while back (probably when we moved back from Norway in 2014 and were looking for somewhere with easy train access to the city) if you take out the city centre stations and international it was University > Sutton > Four Oaks and then Erdington, chester road, five ways, wylde green, aston and selly oak all pretty close together. I suspect Longbridge and Northfield are now a lot higher on the list though given all th ework that's gone on over that way.

Either way the camp hill line just shuttling between pineapple road and new street seems a bit pointless when you're leaving gaps on the cross-city schedule so I'd like to see them linked in some way.

I think the plan is to link to the Cross City at Kings Norton as it used to.

The tracks certainly do go that way but there's nothing been said to confirm exactly what the plans are. When it was supposed to go to Moor Street they talked about using it take one of the 'legs' of the cross city to take the load away from New Street but obviously that won't happen initially.

Yep the Camp Hill Chords to get that traffic into Moor Street where they do have capacity.

I presume this is just to switch to shin cutting seats, but the location is ominous.

But not for 5-10 years.

When's that from?

My seat is there and there aren't any issues with the seats.

It will terminate at Kings Norton.

Just been to the store on way back down saaf. Around the ground looks like a building site. I tried to park at thr North Stand car park but turned away as Women's  match is on even though it was practically empty, told to park where I can. Store was superb though.

Can I ask a favour when we're mooting new sites for a future ground? Would you drop a Google map link in please? I can never work out quite where people are saying and I am genuinely interested in mooching about the proposed sites and learning a wee bit more about Brum. I might well know where you mean, but place names/street names mean nowt to me.

I could also do with that help. What three words would work too.

What 3 words is a good shout, quick and simple.

Of the ones that come up fairly regularly:

Gas Towers - https://what3words.com/called.often.sticks
Mail Sorting Centre - https://what3words.com/veal.notice.guilty
HS2 Site - https://what3words.com/candle.drift.chat

Then there's Martineau Galleries which is here - https://what3words.com/boring.angle.kite - but is too small as the site that's currently available as it only includes the 'block' I've pinned at the one to the East of it. When the site was first announced they had included a lot more space to the south but that got reallocated to the tram line that's going over to Curzon Street so the only option would be to build over the top of that now, which is probably too expensive. It's the best location though, right in the heart of the city.

Hmmm that's not quite true. Southern part of the cross city has been consistently busier than the northern part since 1997. Bournville, KN, longbridge all busier than every station to the north except Sutton. University, five ways, Selly Oak all much busier than everywhere on Northern section, even Sutton.

Will be a bit crap if southern cross city impeded by camp hill lines

It's already happened and the reason there are only 4 trains an hour rather than 6 as there used to be.

They’re all 6 carriages now though so less frequent but if anything more capacity.

Without getting too geeky - about half were 6 carriages before the new trains were introduced, also there are less seats on the new ones, but more standing spaces.

I see on the BBC today that Newcastle are considering leaving St James's Park as they look to increase revenue. At least they are involving fans in the process, with the FAB guys etc.
