I see on the BBC today that Newcastle are considering leaving St James's Park as they look to increase revenue. At least they are involving fans in the process, with the FAB guys etc.
The stand opposite the main stand at Newcastle backs directly onto some historic terraced housing I think. They can't go any bigger that side.

True, but we've got a prefectly good and pretty underused Jacobean mansion up the road from me in Castle Bromwich, how many do we need? I mean, once you've seen one Jacobean mansion you've seen them all, really.

I've only been up there once, September 1984 and we lost 3:0, in front of what seemed to be a full house of 31,591. At the time we had a capacity of 48,000, but Villa Park has gradually shrunk on a hot wash over the years somehow and now 52,000 isn't big enough for Newcastle.

Their stadium looks like an absolute relic compared to others even in the 70's, it was just three open terraces and a few thousand seats in a main stand built at the turn of the century, one of the few places undergoing significant development before the Taylor Report.
