When did they say the work on the warehouse building starts?

To my mind, you’ve got two options to redevelop the existing site - over the current footprint, or on the land behind the North with a 90 degree rotation.

If they were thinking about the latter, they would be holding off plans to build a venue there that isn’t even going to be ready for two years.

I understand the Aston Hotel is owned by a charity who use it as a refuge for vunerable people.

Those sheds house businesses which employ hundreds of people. The houses are home to families with decades of memories there.

As football fans, we're guilty of sometimes forgetting that not everyone else has the same sense of priorities we do.
This is true but I think the club can grease the wheels by offering a really good incentive package. Why not purchase some land and build them brand new houses thereby not splitting up the community? A ballpark estimate here for around 100 houses would be 10/15 million. In the grand scheme of things that wouldn't be so bad. We have major investors on board with a proven track record so I don't think they have got involved just to add a few extra seats and some corporate hospitality packages.

They can’t even sort moving people’s seats in a football stadium in a structured way….theres no way they could manage turning people’s lives upside down correctly :-)

We are a decade or so late to any of the land near the ground…horse has well and truly bolted

Hence why this turns into a circular discussion.

Yeah the Serpentine was perfect but the timing was wrong. What about the Smithfield site in Digb..........

Erdington High Street would be a great location for a new stadium. Relatively close to the existing stadium,  close to the motorway and it would only cost a few quid to buy up the existing shops.

Joking by the way!

Are we leaping to assumptions that the ‘infrastructure’ investment is buildings/stadiums? Admittedly it is by far the most likely.

The main other infrastructure I can think of is youth development and trying to farm young footballers, across the V Sports network. they could become a Chelsea and grow players using a shared philosophy.

The skill set of the people added to the board  doesn’t align with this but the opportunities around Villa Park seem limited to me to justify the investment.

The thing with youth development is that it costs very little in comparison. You certainly don't need to sell 20% of the company to fund it unless you are very hard up.

The owners have paid for the academy to be renovated and the inner city one to be built, plus bankrolled lots of relatively expensive youth signings over the last few years.

Unless they've had a major cash flow problem, I can't see them needing outside investment to keep that going.

Agree if using a one club model but if extended across all the clubs (plus Vasco) and upgrades to all the facilities to match the ambitions then it may justify outside investment.

After all I’d guess Villa burns through 99% of their spare cash so finance might be needed to join all the dots together?

I don't believe it makes business sense. You don't sell 20% of the company for this, there's not enough potential growth from this alone, and the cost of doing it is a drop in the ocean compared to the rest of your outlay.

The owners can do this with their own resources all day, everyday.

They're not building a brand new building, it's a refurb of the existing one.

The growth could come from increasing the size/value of five (?) clubs rather than limiting yourself to just one.

Their growth creating opportunities to build stands etc when needed.

Anyway, just an idea.

As you imply they’ve chucked a significant sum into the business so they must have an angle where they’re seeking a return.
