It's cancelled because ultimately Heck didn't think it would make enough money.
I was under the impression the North Stand redevelopment had been "put on hold".

Edit:

Quotes from Chris Heck from the interview last December.

"To add on ten thousand, right now, doesn't seem practical to me".
"I think it would be a bad idea to tear down one of the stands for a two year period while we are playing like we are".

Nowhere does he say that the project is cancelled, nor "on hold", but his words suggest the latter.

Where do you get that from?  The stand redevelopment has been cancelled.  It's dead.  I very much doubt it was anything to do with playing chicken with the council, that would be cutting our nose off to spite our face.

It's cancelled because ultimately Heck didn't think it would make enough money.

Birmingham is a massive city and Villa are a massive club that's just made it back to the top table. I'm still getting my head around our misfortune to be landed with a CEO so lacking in imagination at this very moment in our history
Spot on.

You'd have really hated the early 80s (and early 90s).

It still doesn't make a lot of sense to me. We are definately staying where we are, with poor relative income, but wont redevelop until we are shit again and the demand drops. Is that about it?

And the '17 years to pay for the North Stand' so what? Its just borrowing money isn't it. Whatever we do on the same site or any other is going to take time to repay.

No, it's we won't do anything till we've maxed out what we've got, which they reckon is £400m. Numbers beyond that are Liverpool, Man United etc.

Isnít the point here that weíre in a rush for short term income growth ie get to £400m and the club see this as not adding to that equation and would be a distraction for both the playing and commercial side of the club in the short term. I concur that itís short termist but it doesnít proclude us doing something once we get to the ďsustainableĒ level to be able to compete for top 4 season after season. Itís disappointing we havenít gone for it, yep jam tomorrow, but I can see the logic.

Will all of the rejigging of seats etc. be complete before Foo Fighters come to town?

Is there a risk that we may be embarrassed like COOP Live?

The North will be behind the stage.  I don't know if they've started the other stands, but I would have thought they would wait.

Tell them not to wash their hair for a couple of days before the gig - there's no point judging by recent clips of Liam's gigs showing a number of plastic glasses of beer and piss being flung from the crowd. Cigarettes And Alcohol being a particular flying-piss flashpoint.

Surely the obligatory bucket hats deal with that.

1.9bn pound Smithfield development by Lendlease finally given the go ahead so no more speculation about us building a new stadium there 😉
