I think AEG had a decent game save the obvious; I wish we had better, but we definitely could have worse. I see some who are optimistic about Traore and I envy your ability to find sunshine in dark places, but I just do not see it. For me, he is a poor man's Arjen Robben who lacks the pace and clinical finishing that made his lack of a right foot forgivable on most occasions. I would have preferred to have seen Ramsey in the starting lineup ahead of Traore and nothing I saw changed that.

AEGs last couple of shots were like back passes, I think that is overshadowing what was a decent performance from him. Destroyed Matt Lowton anyway. Did Traore or Watkins even have a shot in comparison?

It was criminal not to sign another striker in the summer.
You not happy with this season?
I am happy yes. What’s that got to do with my striker point?
Your use of the word 'criminal' seems a little OTT.
We spent shitloads in the summer: we all know we could have done with more, but there's only so much ...

... I'm enjoying the fact that we are dominant and assured; we look like a good EPL team. It takes time.

Mee manages to cynically foul Grealish and kick Watkins in the face with a high tackle. Stays on the pitch.

If ever a player deserved a broken fucking leg, its that ******. Meanwhile Wesley is still a few months off fitness.
Woah. Where's that from?

I have to say that the level of vitriol on the Match Thread and the degree of negativity on this thread is saddening. Yes, we should have won; yes, we missed a number of good chances; yes, some players are not to the high standard to which some on here aspire.
However, over the last three games we have played some really good football, created lots of chances and extended the experience of a number of players getting Premier League football.
We are a team in transition; characterised by inconsistency. We're getting better and are light years away from last season.
AEG got dog's abuse on twitter: read the match thread back (and there are some of my comments on there!) and this thread and - perhaps - reflect on whether the abuse is confined to twitter.

I have no idea about the abuse players get on Twitter, but El Ghazi was dreadful tonight.
Very similar to performances last season.

Great guy, and without doubt, instrumental in our promotion. He's not good enough for this level.

Hardly dreadful was he, he created chances, he had chances, he didn’t take them. That’s hardly dreadful is it?

I agree; I have seen AEG have far worse games than that one, but his finishing was woeful. I would prefer not to see Traore on the pitch anytime soon. Watkins is a good player, but needs some service.

Not learning from our main problem last season is criminal. Sorry if my use of language indicates something irrelevant to you oh holy one.

He wasn't dreadful, his finishing was. That goes for all of them, not just him.

El Ghazi was trying too hard if anything.

Where have you been? Ben Mee is an absolute animal who assaulted Wesley so badly he's lost a whole season. He did the exact same to Joe Gomez. He was an inch away from opening up Ollie Watkins face tonight. That's where the comment came from. Maybe I wouldn't wish a broken leg on him but if he did get injured I wouldn't be losing any sleep.

Good evening Mother Theresa.
Get a grip, FFS.
I simply suggest a bit of balance.

I am amazed he did not get a yellow for his foul on Grealish in the first half.

The best chance of the night was when Grealish played in Traore and he tried to square it for Watkins  instead of shooting for the far corner. Wrong decision making and snatched final shots was the story of the night. Burnley were cynical and slowed the game down all night. They wouldn’t have kept 11 on the pitch if Mike dean had been the referee.

It was no more than one of those nights where it doesn’t happen. All teams have them as Man City found this week.
