We're looking like we can hold our own a bit more this season  but we aint improved that much yet.  . Take it on the chin and move on. 1-3

I actually fancy us to cause an upset. 2-1 Villa.

For some reason I thought it was at Anfield and with Mane and Thiago now out I'm a little more hopeful but still think we'll lose.

Even without Mane and Thiago they’ll be too strong for us but like last season we’ll make them work for it. Can see a draw but likely to be a narrow loss.

Despite the agonising ending, the home game against Liverpool was one of the best games of football I saw last season and we more than held our own for a large part of it.

Just hope we can play with the same intensity as we did last season and have a real go at them.

1-1, Platt for us, Barnes for them.

At least Mane won't be on the pitch from the start this time, should have been gone before HT in the game last year.

2-2, Salah score's 2 first half goals, Barkley coming off the bench second half to score in the last 10 minutes then Watkins scoring his first in the prem in injury time.

I think it’s extremely unlikely we’ll get a positive result, but I think it’s virtually impossible if we go behind. I think the only way to win/draw is to get a lead and essentially hold on.

Will be tough, but you never know. Smith tends to stick faithfully to winning sides, so will be interesting if he throws Barclay straight in or not and if he does whether it will automatically be hourihane that drops out or whether he’ll throw a curve ball and drop Trez , play Barclay a bit wider and hot lips a bit deeper alongside luiz

Villa 5 - 1 Liverpool. All goals in the first half.

That would be nice! I was at that one. Probably the only game I went to that season but what a game. Next day on the news they said people had been phoning from around the world to see if it was true.

I'm not quite that optimistic but I have a good feeling for some reason.

Liverpool don't really trash teams so I think the game will be in the balance in last 10 minutes just like the two were last season.

Need to put in the sort of shift that Leeds did today against Man City.  Even with Mane out they'll probably have too much, but I'm going for an optimistic and nerve-shredding 2-1 to us.

I'm going with 2-1 to us too.

Grealish with the winner in stoppage time after Trezeguet put us one up, but  they equalised with a pen in the 90th minute.
Klopp sent off after the final whistle, Henderson seen in tears leaving the pitch.

Milner makes a heartfelt plea in the post match interview on Sky asking Dean Smith to bring him home , he'll play for free just to wear the claret and blue one last time.

Tammy Abraham phones TalkSport afterwards to say if we let him take the penalties he's available to play alongside Ollie and Jack in a front three.
