Clubs talk to players and agents, it’s what happens. Emi’s agent will be a pushing for the move, Villa want more money and hold the cards. It is a blatant way to unsettle things, Arsenal doing the same now with Konsa. I’m pretty sure we’d have some the same with the Manzambi deal.

It's easier to believe the same player who wanted a move to Amorim's circus at Man United until the last hours of the transfer window last summer wants out again. Likely is agitating strongly for this move. These shit stirrers serve a purpose.

It is - but we got pinged because Southampton's racist chairman made a (clearly justified) complaint to the Premier League that we'd spoken to the player without permission.

It's pretty plausible (given there's a price we're willing to accept) that we've given Martinez permission to speak to Juventus in case they meet what we've asked for.

And even if we haven't, it's not clear who we would be complaining to, and whether they have any jurisdiction to do anything about it.

Everything is so arms-length these days that anyone operating at that level in the game can probably get a good idea of whether a player would be interested in joining then and what they would need to offer without breaking any rules.

I watched the Football Boardroom podcast yesterday with Winter and Purslow. Purslow openly admitted he would send his players while on international duty to tap up players and get to better understand value and worth. That Rogers would likely have been in constant dialogue with Arsenal or Chelsea players, representatives. It appeared in the end he just wanted Chelsea and the Alonso conversation sealed it.
