Bizarre when Brighton say Rushworth would cost Coventry 30 million!

33 year olds cost less than 23 year olds. Particularly when they're on massive contracts.

It does seem a weird anomaly that old goalkeepers don't go for bigger fees, given they can play longer, but for some reason it is the case.

Think the biggest fee for any goalkeeper over 30 was Petr Cech going to Arsenal, which was £10m when he was the age Emi is now.

I think it points to how inherently stupid most football transfers, and the market itself, are.

It is bizarre though Rushworth won’t get in Brighton’s first team. If we replaced semi with him we’d be massively out of pocket with a worse keeper albeit the wages would be less!

Selling Emi seems to be the a strange move as he is worth more than we will get - unless it is part of a series of moves - e.g. sell a few players and then use the money to rebuild.

Also - its wages more of our issue than anything else?  So dropping 40m isnt an issue - its dropping 140k a week that is

With Juve pissing about over a fee, surely it’s down to the Villa to say ‘put up or fuck off’.

I’m guessing Juve hope Emi agitates enough over a move that we decide to give him away.

How long does he have left on his current deal - presumably his wages are a killer for us?

From what I read, we are happy for him to stay. His wages are one of the highest we have, but it's not going to be any cheaper to buy another keeper of good enough quality and pay their wages.

His contract is up in 2029.

Hmmm yes, he’ll be a hard one to replace.

I'm already feeling detached from him.

If England play Argentina in the semis, there's a high percentage chance of some Emi shithousery which will mean staying in England might become more difficult.

I'm not sure if it would bother him much.

I'm sure it won't - but it would be a good excuse for him to move on, and to move him on.

I'd rather not have an "excuse" to move on a brilliant goalkeeper for a pittance.

Romano now saying Juventus have made a proposal to him, and that talks with Villa are still at early stages.

Let's see if we can hear laughing coming form B6 or not.

All the way through all the noise has come from Juve and possibly Emi’s agent. Villa’s position remains private other than the supposed leaks.
