Or, we might 'owe them' for the Duggie Luiz shenanagins swap that got us out of a tight hole. The owners of both are friends aren't they?

They are.

Doesn't help that his first name is Damián.

Swim down through the fathoms of your soul
If you don't try and get your feet wet
You're a liar and a troll
Etchings, thousands, etchings of your eyes
If you don’t climb atop the Eiffel
You’ll never fall or die
Hold on to your headlights
They hold your skin to your bones
Fold in fear of the white lines
You know you'll scroll forever
You know we'll scroll forever in the tide.

Emi is the devil and he’s ours. Hopefully, he doesn’t want to go (if he does fair dues no antipathy), but as others have said it makes no sense for us to get rid, world class and big game player

Maybe he just wants more Europa League football, and we just can't offer him that.

I love him, he is not infallible and at times his standards have dropped a bit, and the performative tears last season didn't convince me.

But he's so good, and when i see that clip of him on the open top bus shouting "THEY WRONG!", I think I'd walk into a hail of machine gun fire for the guy, so god knows what it is like as a defender playing in front of someone like that.

He's a fucking winner, with a winner mentality, and we need to be holding on to people like that, because we'd not just be replacing a goalkeeper, we'd need to replace a talisman.
