I love him so much honestly.

Hands off, Jacob, he's mine!

Wait...Monty is Jacob?

...no. I was just drunk and made up a posh name for him because of how posh he is, like.

He seems to be saying/implying he chose to stay at Villa rather than the move falling through because MU signed Lammens.

I don't believe that tbh.

Neither do I, but I do still think the most likely scenario was that he was informed at some point that he was one of our most highly-priced assets that we were looking to cash in on due to financial factors, and that the real impetus for the move didn't come from him until he felt that we'd already factored him in as sold.

Yeh reckon that's it.

He's not gonna be going any time soon now anyway.

Ours until we want to get rid I think.

His brother was shopping him to Inter Milan, wasn't he? Imagine he was happy to leave but hopefully now happy to stay.

The horizon at Aston Villa looks VERY different to a year ago.  Back then, we'd just missed out on the Champions League, having enjoyed our season in it, we were trophyless, and the World Cup was 12 months away.

Everything looks rosier right now, so I'd be amazed if any players are actively trying to get away this summer, Emi included.  Now, whether we WANT to be offloading, is a question for the accountants, but my hope is that with a reasonable amount to spend this summer, we'll be looking to start next season with a much stronger squad than the one that started the last.
