1st goal was always going to be crucial tonight, especially with our depleted team and losing Onana at h/t.
Martinez cost us tonight (he was lucky to be bailed out by Ollie's brace vs Chelsea).
He needs to cut out the mistakes and focus on the ball.

He keeps doing that on corners. Every away game.

Needs to get physical back and start skittling opponents. Better that than what happened for their opener tonight. If opponents think they're going to get a smack for their efforts they may think twice about acting like that.

It's getting concerning. Surely just start punching the ball. It was so annoying that it was from the first Arsenal corner.

Two things that can both be true:

i) he was way too weak on the corner;

ii) (I think) he was also fouled.

Yep, I agree, an elbow that high is a foul, but he’s got to be stronger. He’s a big lad and needs to boss that area and be as physical back.

He needs to be better in those situations, but equally in this run he’s made some exceptional, and critical, saves.

He certainly has, some have been worthy of save of the season.

It might be something we have to prepare for now as it's becoming a common tactic against him.

From corners, he needs to stop fighting everyone around him.
If he gets crowded and subsequently fouled, it will get seen by the ref and or VAR.

Goalies are still overprotected. He doesn’t need to fight the world.

Goalies are still overprotected.

I would strongly argue this is not the case.

but it isn't being seen, most of the time in the last 20-30 years the Chelsea goal and the one today get disallowed for blocks on the keeper but for whatever reason this season refs seem to have decided it's ok.

I didn’t see anything wrong with the goals Chelsea and Arse scored against us.
Had emi been concentrating on the flight of the ball rather than pushing everyone around him, he may have been able to catch/punch them.
He was never ‘set’ for either goal.

If teams subsequently score through their own attacking prowess, then you have to accept that.
But we have conceded 2 shocking goals from corners in 2 games, because of the same situation.
In both circumstances, the player closest to emi has scored without even bloody realising.

Penalties are never awarded against goalkeepers when challenging in the air. Emi needs to toughen up and start taking people out to reach the ball.

but in both cases he was pushing people out the way because they were leaning into him and blocking him off, which is exactly what was being given as free kicks consistently until recently. Don't look at what happens when the ball gets to him, it's the 4-5 seconds before that which is the problem and that's exactly where how refs are handling things has changed.

I noticed it one of the home games the other week, where the opposition had a player on him at corners and they were jostling.  Seems like other teams have seen what happened at Leeds and have followed suit.  I get the impression that he's not too popular with officials, so isn't going to get the benefit of the doubt in those situations either.
