For a supposed big game player, he shits the bed in a lot of big games.

Indeed.

World Cup winner, but off the top of my head:

Redscouse at home May 24 - Gobbed it in the first few minutes and needed Jhon Loco to bail us out
Forest away Dec 24 - Worldie save and then chucked one in in the final few mins
Palarse semi final in April 25- Maybe a bit harsh this one, but Martinez in form saves Eze's opening strike
Man U away May 25 - Worst audition ever

Then the Redscouse again last night.  I'm sure there are plenty of others.

In the interests of balance. for much of 2023/24 it felt like he was making a worldie save at least every other game.

But might be best for everyone if he moves on in the summer.

Will be surprised if him and Mendes get the move to Yanited or Atletico they want though . Expect it might be a loan with a biggish fee to Italy or Portugal.

Didn’t he throw one in against Arsenal?  Not the one off his head.

I’m with others.  He has tried to engineer a move since January.  I’ve no sense of loving for him anymore.  He’s stayed by default not by design.  You almost feel sure that if a January move was on the cards he would jump at it.  Plus he’s just not been brilliant for quite a while now.

I’d say there were extenuating circumstances on the potential move.  We’ve seen a dip in form from a couple of others who were reportedly in the same situation.

Regarding yesterday’s mistakes (Pau as well).  Playing the way we do it’s going to happen once in a while.

No need to over react or read too much into it.

He's our Number 23. Maybe he needs the Number 1 again.

He kept us in the game yesterday with several fine saves, unfortunately his brainfart decided the game. He had no chance with the second due to the deflection. He knows the love affair is over, the crowd no longer sing his song, he always said he'd stay if the club keep progressing and less than 12 months ago it all looked like we were done. Not excusing him for wanting away but his form since returning in the summer has been back to near his best.

For somebody who has played in so many massive international games you have to seriously wonder what the hell was going through his head when he gave the assist to Salah. Madness.

I Can’t argue with any of that

What nonsense. I suspect he was told by the club ie Monchi that he was one of the players we would accept offers for. In that scenario he asked his agent to look for moves which he’s entitled to do. The fact it fell through/didn’t happen etc has left him in a slightly invidious position. Is he still seen as a saleable asset and bridges been burnt and everyone is going through the motions or Alternatively he’s made his peace with Unai and he’s just trying to get back to form. It’s no surprise Monchi has gone if this was his grand plan to reduce costs. It wouldn’t surprise me if Watkins was the other recipient of Monchi’s approach. I would say though that if this is the case, the pair of them need to get over it and start contributing more.

Might seem strange to say after last nihts hpwler, but seems a bit odd to list big mistakes he’s made, when in the 5 years he’s been he’s been largely incredible with loads snd loads of saves other keepers wouldn’t of made.
I honestly can’t understand letting the summer linger, he’s our keeper for now, and as long as he doesn’t do the same in January, we’re better off with him than without him this season. He probably will go in the summer, none of what happened last summer, wipes out all the great performances for us in my eyes.

I can't be arsed with him any more - lets hope he performs well enough this season to get his move next summer and we can replace him with someone who isn't a bell end.

I agree with this. If I were told 'we might have to sell you', I'd be taking the future into my own hands, not waiting for my employers to shit or get off the pot.  If we told him he was expendable he had every right to look for the best deal for himself. Although I still think it's funny that Man Utd cucked him in the most conspicuous way.
