There's not a single player I'd rather keep ahead of Emi.
Yeah - I think I agree with that

What if we don't have to sell him but he wants to leave. And rather than keep an unhappy player we let him go with best wishes and see it as a way to help PSR as well.

There's currently no actual proof we HAVE to sell him but some talk as though it's a definite.

I wondered this too. What if he's come to the point where time is ticking and he's decided it's time for one more big adventure. Maybe it's a mutually agreeable point to walk away. I can even see the lure of going to Man U for him, being the big man in the dressing room. He'd undoubtedly be a huge influence and I'd say they would immediately be 10-15 points better off. I'm not sure he's got that same impact on us anymore, because we've grown and evolved.
This is where my thinking is.  I.e. Hes open to going, the club are open to let him go (as someone has to), and theres interest in him.  Im sure hes not being forced to leave, and likewise Im sure hes not forcing an exit - just all involved (apart from the fans) can live with it.

Which I reckon is very similar to the Douglas Luiz situation from last summer.

The player of last season, all day long.  After this season I'm not as upset by the prospect as I would've been.  I'd keep him if he wants to stay and we have other FFP options though, as replacing him is still going to be pretty tough.

Yet his save ratio is higher this season...

I think he is the highest earner, aside from Rashford of course.

So selling him isn't just about getting the lump sum, it's about bringing down that wages to revenue percentage.

Keeping him to make room for Rashford would be shit tbh.

It’s not surprising he’s had a tough season. The whole side was affected with all the disruptions in defence. We played a different back four nearly every week until we could finally settle in February.

I reckon that's what might happen.

I wouldn't have a massive problem with that were it not for the fact that Emi would be turning out for Man United, which makes me feel like vomitting up the entire contents of my stomach. Through the nostrils.

Atletico Madrid apparently taking an interest in Emi. If we lost him that wouldn’t be a bad place for him to end up. Absolutely not to any club in the PL.

Fine, they can have him after the World Cup.

Why would you swap someone who has constiently championed our club, is the embodiment of the kind of mentatily we lack, and is the best in the world in his position.  And swap him for someone who has rarely constiently delievered on his promise, and apparently would much rather be at Barcalona.  Rashford is a very good player - but were not talking Prime Salah here.

True but it's surprisingly our goals scored that is the real let down compared to those clubs around us. Goals conceded isn't that big a difference. Still negative in comparison but nothing like our lack of goals.
