With Emi it isn't just about him keeping the ball out it's his all round footballing ability. I have never been so confident in a Villa keeper with ball at his feet. We would have to replace that as well if he left.

That will be top of the list of attributes (to play under Unai). So we’ll definitely sign a ‘footballer/sweeper keeper.

Sorry you’re just talking nonsense - “accept first offer that comes along” I struggle to see how any of the sales we’ve made haven’t made sense - I didn’t want to lose Doug, but he wanted to go. Duran was always agitating and we got a brilliant price.

Luiz may have (though it appears he regrets it now) but Duran would have stayed if he'd been used properly.  Sell Martinez and should his replacement not work, Emery and his staff will rightly face the brunt of fans anger.  Blame PSR all you want, but constant talk of selling all of our players and then selling below market value is a completely short-sighted policy.

Duran nearly went for the relegation battle at West Ham. He’s following the money, get over him.

For all the boo-hoo about selling Luiz - he had a contract offer on the table for months and chose not to accept it.

That’s right, as much as I loved Dougie, one my favourite players from the last 20 years, he fancied the Italian move.

Duran was off at any given moment.

If Emi wants to go or we need to cash in, it’s shit, as both of the above were, however it’s all out of our hands so you need to get the best deal moving forward.

We could do a lot worse than buy Henderson at Palace - only 28 and an excellent keeper as we found out to our cost several times

Apparently his former girlfriend insisted he didn't sign it. She's now the toast of Juventus, they certainly love her more than Dougie.

Didn’t someone on here say recently that they had heard there is going to be a big clear out this summer and Emery only wants Emery style players?

I’m always sceptical on that kind of thing, especially as he’s already done 2.5 yrs here.

But plus side would I suspect Tim’s head might explode.

You see, even the worst situations can have their upsides.

If he goes I wish him well. He's been utterly brilliant for us, and loyal when he could have left and gone pretty much anywhere.

If he goes to Barcelona I could understand it, of he went to Saudi I'd be surprised but if it's a final payday thing it's understandable in a way. He hasn't won anything as a club player. Perhaps that's the Barcelona thing.

I just hope we have several real targets for a replacement, and the biggest part of negotiations done before we actually get rid of Martinez.

Not with a decent club.

Why don’t players seem to want to stay with us no matter what.  It’s bloody frustrating.

He doesn't want to go. We don't want to sell him.

There’s other players we could sell ahead of him surely?
