Not when we happily accept cut price deals.  That's nothing do with PSR, but because we keep choosing to do it that way.  We need to start being clever in the market and not just roll over and accept the first offer that comes along.  Duran would have stayed if Emery hadn't insisted on messing him about.  As for Martinez,  look at his demeanor tonight.  Clearly doesn't want to go, yet the club are trying to force him out.

Who said we happily accept them? We had to sell Luiz on some crap terms BECAUSE we had to sell before the end of June. We still probably got the best part of the deal in the end with Luiz carrying over his crap end of season form for them, and Barranchea seeming to be a very good player. And I expect we can get rid of Illing Junior for 10-15mil now if we wanted to as well.

As for Duran, he messed us about as much as he might have been messed about with. And it was common knowledge that we either sold Duran or we sold Watkins. We got £65mil plus extras which is a good deal. With that sale we got in Malen for a fraction and also manged to loan in Asensio and Rashford, who between them has attributed 13 goals in the second half of the season. I doubt we would have got 13 from Duran, unless he played all the games, in which case we would have also lost some of the 9 goal contributions from Watkins in that time as well.

And you are now making out Emi is being forced out with no fucking evidence at all.

Madness to even consider selling him without even a having a good enough number 2 keeper on the books.  We got caught out a year ago by selling Luiz and replacing him Onana who's been woeful for much of the season.

Agree on Martinez, I'd hope for a humongous transfer fee if indeed he is off, that'd be the only way we should ever sell him through gritted teeth at the alter of PSR, but Tielemans was Luiz's replacement, and he's done pretty well this year.

Yes, but reading between the lines,  we are going to cash in in Tielemans as well, and probably way below his true value like with Luiz.

Sell Martinez, and that bumps us about 5 places down the table next season.

Is there any bit of this "Villa" thing that you actually get any enjoyment from?

I can’t be the only one sick of our sporting director treating our best players like rubbish and then replacing them with mediocrity.  Luiz outstanding last season, we cash in.  Duran brilliant first half of this season,  we cash in.  Now Martinez and the pound signs are in their eyes.  It's becoming quite spiteful.

Oh for fuck's sake grow a pair of bollocks you big tittybabby, have you been asleep for the last (not even) three years?

The cashing in is fuck all to do with the sporting director and all to do with trying to be PSR compliant, both in the league AND in Europe.

It might just be that Emi will have to move on if we don't get Champs League football. So you can imagine how ecstatic BCV will be if we clinch a CL spot on Sunday week. His joy will truly be unbridled.

Is that satire?

I don't get it?

No, I genuinely think he will leave. That reaction at the end of the game is extremely strange. We already know we have to sell someone. We already know Saudi are interested and are loaded. He's just given the game away imo.

It had better be for a good fee.

He did seem pretty emotional there, which is a bit strange for a routine win.

He let in 8 in his last two league games against Spurs, but kept a clean sheet tonight when it mattered most. No wonder he's emotional.

I would be very sad to see him go.

He is a talisman, and has contributed greatly to our resurgence, not only by his goalkeeping, but also in terms of leadership.

Sorry - what I mean is it seems preety clear hes leaving - and seems likley that he would have been happy not to.

Can’t really see the PSR aspect, we’d want a lot more than clubs would want to pay imo. There are other players that would command a bigger fee and would be easier to replace, if it’s a footballing decision then so be it, not that I agree with it and I think UE would be foolish to come to that conclusion.

That photo implies rather alot I’d say.

I would be genuinely gutted if he left. F*ck PSR. Just take the penalty and keep one of the best if not the best in his position in the world. It would be faintly ridiculous that we at the moment were starting to have some sustained success we’re penalised by consistently having to sell our best players whilst others flaunt the rules with impunity.

I think its just the maths of it.  On our books hes probably worth about 5m - so sell him for 30m and we make 25m.  Which means we can spend another 100m or whatever.

Its makes no sense and it reduces everyone enjoyment in the game but apparently thats fair play

Don't go, Emi. You need to win at least one trophy first.
