Agree with Footy, need to get this back on topic. Hopefully we’ll see Emi get his hands on another trophy soon.

Ah, the contrast in their facial expressions never fails to make me laugh.

It’s amazing isn’t it 🤩 Such schoolboy behaviour but never fails to cheer me up. Whenever I am down I will look at this.

It's terrible and awful image that dimmed the glory of the incredible World Cup victory.
Furthermore, it's a picture that kids everywhere, including his own, will see.
I bet he regrets that action.
And after Emery spoke to him about his celebrations at the world cup you can expect not to be replicating that behaviour if we lift the European Conference Trophy.

I really, really very much doubt he regrets it.

And it would be a lot harder to do with the Conference Trophy, plus it was funnier with the hand.

I bet he couldn’t give a flying fuck about it. Neither do I.

If he wins us a place in the CL and helps us life the Conference I’ll be delighted if he dropped his shorts and mooned the Greek PM of whatever dignitary they have at the game handing us the trophy.

If that’s the thing you find most offensive about a world cup played in a state that employs forced labour, thinks women should not be allowed to wear shorts, and that gay people belong in prison, I think your morals are not as strong as you think.

That is the thing that diverts attention away from his goalkeeping abilities and the saves he has been making. The antics are becoming some sort of reality act. As is the time wasting.
He has the reputation now when really it should be the world class tag that be first mentioned

I believe he does not receive the credit that other keepers do, at least in Premier League England, due to his reputation and behaviour and the fact that he is referred to as one of the best keepers while never being regarded as best both in world terms and  not even called the best Premier League keeper, when he now has shown he is.

The focus isn't all about on how great a keeper he is, how he's literally won Villa matches and made outstanding saves
The man's a winner and world class.
And why isn't that mentioned as much by media here in UK -it's because of how he behaves.

I don't care what other people think about him as long as he keeps winning us games. He could end this season with a European trophy and a place in the Champions League. If he does that he can rightly ignore the prudes like you.

He won't be called the best prem keeper because Man City and Liverpool have keepers. Not saying they are better at the moment, just that they will be given more credit because of who they play for.

I just think this season he's totally proved that he's the best in this league even more so and doesn't get the recognition he deserves.
The focus seems more to be on his antics.
If Villa finish 4th and if win Europa Conference League it's a major contribution by Martinez but will that be recognized ?

Since winning the world cup he has carried on being world class and that should be rewarded in honour by pundits far more by Sky , TNT BBC and talk sport .

The most recognized he gets is his reputation at dark arts and there is far more to him than that!

Hang on, it wasn't that long ago that you were telling us Emery was looking for an excuse to swap Martinez for Olsen?

Didn't you once posit that Emery might play Olsen at Everton as "he knows the ground"?

What's that got to do with recognition.
Martinez by his own admission has had to learn and adapt to Emery with ball playing but he's the best goal keeper in the world

I'm asking how you tally your current Martinez worship with the fact not long ago you were suggesting Martinez is long term to be replaced by Olsen.

A bit like saying the Beatles should have replaced John with Frankie Howerd.
