It's almost as if most people on this forum allow conversations to evolve naturally exactly as they should without feeling the need to lose their shit if it's a little off topic.

Like you’re having a lazy Sunday afternoon chat over some drinks where the conversation takes in about 20 things, none of which are the thing you started talking about and that’s kind of the point.
I love lazy Sunday afternoons.  Particularly when you get the BBQ on.  What are people's thoughts on direct heat vs indirect heat and are you a lid-on or lid-off type of guy / gal?

Why are you talking about BBQ's when it's 5 degrees outside? You should be talking about hotpots and soups. What's your favourite hot pot? I think mine's Lamb.

Not a massive hot pot fan really.  But beef slow-cooked in stout always goes down well with my family.

I do love a lamb curry though.  45 mins is about right to get it melt in your mouth.

Delicious. Nice bit of crusty bread and a glass of red wine. Perfect.

As I've said to footy a few times if you don't like it maybe Villatalk with it's far more aggressive moderation is a better fit for you.

You are the Alan Brazil of H&V!

If you don't like it, there's Radio 4!

Superb analogy, Paul!

I'm sorry, but we're talking about BBQs and hot-pots.  What has Alan Brazil got to do with this?

Although i'd usually go Keema Naan, a peshwari is good with a lamb curry. One of my favourite meals actually.

I can strongly recommend this Anjam Anand recipe - although I tend to double the quantities as I like more sauce (you don't need to double the whole spices or chilli - maybe x 1.5)

What is a hotpot exactly? My sole knowledge of them comes from Betty's hotpots on Corrie. Is it just stew with spuds on top? Like shepherd's pie but with chunks instead of mince?

It is that, but it’s better than that.

To be fair with his complexion he might well have been stuck in a BBQ for a while and he's certainly never said no to seconds when he's getting a hot pot.

Lancashire hotpot is basically lamb stew (ie chunks not mince) with sliced potatoes on the top, unlike shepherd's pie which has mince. You can add carrots and the like but traditionally I think it's just lamb and onions. Typically served with pickled cabbage. A big favourite in our house.
