Damiano and Amanda are pleased, and will be dining on Findus Crispy Pancakes and arctic roll, followed by some heavy petting on RyanAir flight R36985. They're due back in Rednal at 2am.

36985 was overbooked so Dam and Ama were left behind…poor babes.

Sounds like a bogus story to me, Ryanair's airline code is FR and their flight numbers use a maximum of 4 digits.

Good for Emi. Fully deserved. I'll decide how I feel about it based on whether he stays this summer.

I think Emi will be with us for at least one more season. There is no obvious landing spot for him right now at the price we will insist on. And I think he will also feel a sense of loyalty towards us so soon after signing a new deal. But we absolutely must prove to him over the summer we are serious about competing at the top end of the table. And because he’s still young (keepers tend to go longer), he will have time on his side to play in the CL if we cannot help him get there, or Europa at minimum. So hopefully we will see a strong finish and a summer of key additions to help keep him at the club. And who knows, a long shot admittedly, but maybe we squeak in this season with a good run between now and May.

I’d love him to stay and I agree with what you’ve said. I think some supporters have been scarred by our better players going, particularly Joe, that they’ve resigned themselves to Martinez going and so are getting it in first, so to speak. But if that’s correct and it transmits, then it’s hardly going to persuade him to stay if indeed he was thinking of moving.

Agree with this, i thought it was a little understated before the Leeds game. So it would be good if VP made a big deal of this.

In my time going to the Villa, he’s no 1. I only saw Rimmer a few times and was too young to remember. Massive affection for Spinksy for obvious reasons, but he wasn’t in the same class. Bozzie was great, but again i think Emi is better. How confident do we all feel when crosses are slung into the box compared to previous times.

My misty / rose-tinted specs say Rimmer was top dog but - hey! - we're talking about two top-class keepers here. Emi clearly has had more international recognition than Jimmy but Jimmy was up against probably the 2 best keepers of the time in Shilton and Clemence.

Bizarrely not in the world XI as best keeper. Went to Courtois.

That’s because they have their lips sewn to Real Madrid’s arse.

How much is the best goalkeeper in the world worth?
£50m ? £75m ? £100m ?

I doubt there are many clubs who could afford him outside of the oil clubs.

I think we could have been looking in the region of £65m-£70m before, I guess you can probably add £15m on top.

My only concern over him leaving is if he fancies club football with Messi, and PSG could certainly afford that kind of money.

PSG have got Donarumma, can't imagine them being in for another keeper when they're supposedly trying to cut their wage bill.

Ah, didn’t know who their keeper is.

It wouldn't surprise me if Chelsea tried to lure him away. I know they don't need him but to them that wouldn't matter. I reckon he'll be here next season though.

The obvious destination is Spurs, new money incoming in and doubts increasing over Lloris.
