It was apparently ok for Mbappe to piss himself laughing when Kane missed the penalty but he’s suddenly too precious to have EMI take the piss out of him. Some people take all of this stuff far too seriously.

Is he? I haven't heard any quote from Mbappe since the World Cup.

I knew Emi was a bit of a scamp, but it turns out he's actually a 100%, 24 carat nutjob.

I was referring more to the reaction from outside rather than the player himself.

Agree wholeheartedly with every word BE posted on the previous page. He perfectly summed up Emi, the game, the save and the fine line between success and failure. My respect for Mbappe went up even further for the way he completely blanked Macron yet gave Emi his full attention. Great player that I believe will only get better.

EMI took the piss out of the artists on their roster for years before mismanagement saw the label being sold to private equity vulture, Guy Hands.
Johnny Rotten had it right, all along.

Check this out.... Emi saving a Coutinho penalty from 2009... Argentina v Brazil...

Wow, the hair styles on both of them. He has the same technique for penalties now, but has to start from behind the line so he is not ahead of it when the ball is struck.

Looks like something from the 70s, not 12 or 13 years ago!

Aston Villa getting a lot of abuse from French people on Twitter over Emi mocking Mpabbé. Shit club, false club, etc. These people know nothing of our heritage.

Not sure on what basis it's our fault.
Not sure if you picked it up but the stadium announcer said “Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa” when he walked up to pick his golden glove, so that I suppose riled them. If so then I love it even more.
I didn't realise that. Wish I'd noticed lol.

Anyway, let Emi have his moment. As the saying goes, tomorrow is never guaranteed. He may never go to another world cup.

The French can fuck off. We buy their players to make them sit on our bench for 3 years.

They haven't forgiven us for going to St Etienne for a pre season friendly in 1977 and inflicting what was their first home defeat in 3 years.

Only the shit ones.

Apropos of nothing, looking at the wider picture. There were 5 players who play in England in the French squad of 25. Of those only three were regulars: Lloris, Varane, and Konaté. Saliba got 27 minutes and Areola (W Ham) is 3rd choice keeper, and would not have been there if Mike Maignan wasn't injured. Obviously, others have played in England (Veretout, Giroud...)

Didn't the French Press dub that 'Le Pop Band' derby?

I think, and I stand to be corrected, that St Etienne only came to promence in the 1990s.
