Anyone else think he could have done better for their goal? He saw the run of KDB clearly and was well set but didnt seem to move his feet fast enough to allow for the flight of the ball.

That cross was pin point accurate.
I don’t think there was much he could have done bar being out of position.
KDB would have just stuck it near post for whoever was there. Then we’d have been having a ‘why wasn’t he covering near post’ debate 😂

I agree Nigel, I've rewatched the highlights, and sometimes ypu just have to put a goal down to very good play from the opposition. There weren't any glaring mistakes from any individuals, it was just an excellent goal from some of the best players in the country. Very different from the goals Arsenal scored, where there were multiple mistakes and examples of sloppy play.

Seems Emi and the rest of our fit South American contingent were out living it up on the eve of the game. https://twitter.com/mo_avfc74/status/1578707146509647872

Nice to see our players out together doing fairly mundane stuff and being approachable.

For some weird reason, in the middle of the night I woke up and the first two lines popped into my head. And if the start is bad, the middle and end are desperate.... haha

Our goalie's from Argentina
Emiliano Martinez,
He plays every game, he makes saves for fun,
He kept a clean sheet,
He's Villa's number one

Yeah! What the hell...? Hopefully he's on the way to B6 and bringing Tammy with him.

They only let him play the last ten minutes too.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Martinez in the long run, as he was not Emery's goalkeeper at Arsenal and will have to greatly improve how he distributes the ball

Martinez I wouldn't swap for any keeper in the Prem, in my opinion, should be captain instead of McGinn and only Mings or Young are of his standing to lead our team.

There's a good chance he'll be back in January as a World Cup winner and as much as I admire him, I believe he won't be suited to passing out from the back for Unai Emery style of play and he may be replaced in the summer due because of how the manager system of play.

Good to have you back, FV. Disagree entirely on this occasion, though. Martinez would be at the very back of any queue of players I'd want us to replace. Luckily, he seems to love it here so it's not something I'm overly concerned about.
