Did anyone else notice that had that penalty been struck on target Emi would have saved it?  It was hit hard but he dived the right way, I don't think the pace would have made any difference.

Bosnich at Roker Park is the best goal keeping performance ever in a Villa shirt.

Rimmer, Spink and Emi are the 3 best I’ve seen in a Villa shirt, from 1970.

Bosnich was good, but certainly not in the same bracket as those 3.
Like John Burridge he was an extrovert who got the crowd on his side.
Both made some wonderful saves, though.

Bosnich was better than Spink iny opinion. Spink was poor at comanding his area.

Martinez is ace though:

Yup - I'll go with that assertion.

Whilst I loved Spink, I’d say Bosnich was a better keeper.

Rotterdam.  Our keepers were that good we could afford to rotate them.

Am I the only one waiting for Emi to be charged by the FA for ungentlemanly conduct

Rimmer was magnificent. Bozzie was just as good but he can't be forgiven for the way he left the club - plus his kicking was shite. Emi has been superb so far and he brings a right ballsy attitude that's definitely starting to spread.
No wonder the Gooners are still fuming over his sale.

Spink was the best of them as an outfield player. Recall Hendrie being sent off at QPR and Spink coming on to go up top.

Which was Spink's last Villa appearance.

Best shot stopper? Bosnich. But his kicking was atrocious at a time when it became increasingly important.

Best commander of his area? Rimmer.

Spink was a better shot stopper than Rimmer, but didn't have Rimmer's presence.

For all that, the one element of goalkeeping that has left the greatest lasting impression on me was the height and length of Jimmy Cumbes' drop kicks when I first went to Villa Park. To that point I'd never seen a ball kicked that high and that far!

Nobody mentioning David James? He was great at commanding his area and not bad with his feet (as far as I remember).

Rimmer was a God for me after years of watching Jim Cumbes.
