If Jed comes in and plays a blinder, maybe keeps a clean sheet then surely he keeps the shirt and Emi has to suck it up whilst sitting on the bench. Go Jed!

Do we get extra points for being nice guys? How many did we get for rolling over for Man City and Grealish?

I'm on the phone to the Barrow chairman as we speak.

You would hope so.

If Steer saves three penalties and we win one-nil, Martinez will still be straight back in assuming he's fit to do so.

Tottenham have two players playing in all three Argentina games so will miss three Tottenham games.

It's funny how much this actually does comfort me.

They're not half as important to Spurs as Buendia and Martinez are to us though. Lo Celso is a bit part player for them at best.

I'm not sure they'll be that fit after 10 days in a quarantine hotel room. They're not going to be in their palatial homes and nice gardens, you do realise?

At least we'd lose to Chelsea anyway? Not so much clutching at straws here as flailing about in a barn like Michael Gove trying to dance.

Maybe. Although as I said above, it's doubtful they'll be fit to play in the next match after 10 days in a hotel of the government's choice.

Can't they just isolate at home or is it completely mandatory still for hotel occupation if you go abroad? I mean pick them up from the airport with a big limo so two metre distance is still observed and drop them off at their homes, are McGinn and Ramsey having to isolate at the Belfry now or are they at their family homes, McGinn seems to want to play in two of the three Scotland games coming up.

All a bit odd to me considering UK cases are being posted regularly at 30k + now and just had 40 thousand sitting alongside each other on Saturday.

I think regarding Everton I don't see an issue with Emi fitness as keeper just needs a day or two of training to get back into things given it's a different prep to outfield player.

Hopefully by then we can put out front 3 of Bailey-Ings-Watkins and then have a new DM with McGinn and Luiz ahead so that looks o.k to me and Buendia will be good option off the bench given his workrate and pressing.

There are exemptions for elite sportsmen, but then I checked the legislation, and they have to be taking part in one of these competitions:

(3) The following elite sports events are specified for the purposes of sub-paragraph (1)(h) to (l)—

(a)the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship;

(b)All England Lawn Tennis Club – The Championships, Wimbledon;

(c)England & Wales Cricket Board International Cricket fixtures;

(d)ICC World Test Championship Final;

(e)Lawn Tennis Association – Birmingham Classic;

(f)Lawn Tennis Association – Cinch Championships;

(g)Lawn Tennis Association – Eastbourne International;

(h)Lawn Tennis Association – Nottingham Open;

(i)Lawn Tennis Association – Nottingham Trophy.

[F9(j)R & A – The Open Championship;

(k)British Grand Prix.]

I suppose it's possible that the government could make an exemption [seeing as they make most things up as they go along, amirite?), but seeing how the Premier League has tried to ban the players going, I wouldn't think that's too likely, as it would then encourage other players to break the ban. Assuming they have to quarantine in a hotel, this is what they have to do:

"Leaving your room
You will only be allowed to leave your room in very limited circumstances including:

to travel directly to leave the Common Travel Area – you will be given instructions when leaving on how to reduce the risk of infection while you travel through the UK to leave, if you are not taken directly to the port of exit by the hotel transportation
to fulfil a legal obligation including attending court or satisfying bail conditions or to participate in legal proceedings
to exercise but only with special permission from security. This is not guaranteed
in exceptional circumstances, such as:
seeking medical assistance where this is required urgently or on the advice of a registered medical practitioner
to avoid injury, illness or escape a risk of harm (for example situations such as fire or flooding, or cases where domestic abuse occurs within a group quarantining together)
to access critical public services including social services or services provided to victims (for example critical access such as for a child to see their social worker)
to access veterinary services where required urgently or on the advice of a veterinary surgeon (only service animals, such as guide dogs, can accompany you to managed quarantine)"

Other than that, 24 hours of Netflix. If this is what they have chosen to do, then their starting position must in no way be guaranteed when they return.

Does it really matter if they quarantine at home or in a hotel room? You get a treadmill and/or bike in plus some weights/bands and it's not difficult to stay physically fit for a short period of time. Match/training sharp, not so much of course.

A huge difference, surely.  They don't get to choose a penthouse suite with loads of room, it'll be a Premier Inn if they're lucky. Completely different to being able to run around a garden and kick a ball about. It'll be like being in prison for two weeks, except they won't be allowed out, at all.
