Reflects well on the club, hopefully this will encourage potential new signings. We would probably lose to Chelsea anyway. Assume Bailey not in Jamaica squad? Hopefully he will be available.

That's my take as well and the situation has been communicated in a clear and timely manner.

Playing for Argentina is obviously a big deal for both Emis and think facilitating this will stand us in good stead (with them) going forward.
We have no choice really, we have to let them play for their nations. If we don’t like it we really need to stop buying good players.

I posted on the Bailey thread a few weeks back Jamaica have a tournament later this season with 8 or 9 games.

It’s probably the right call but it absolutely knackers us for Chelsea. It’s not like they’re fringe players is it.

Big Emi is the miss. If Bailey and Watkins are ready, then little Emi being out is less of a blow.

McGinn, Sanson and Ramsey available for potential selection to join Dougie in the middle. Mings back, Konsa too. Quality will be significantly upgraded.

at this rate I don’t think we will know our settled side before January.  Thankfully we have a big squad but hard to know which are the good uns and how the team knits together.

not all Smith’s fault but we constantly appear to be on the back foot.  Aggressively bidding for ESR seems a long time ago.

This is a terrible decision in my opinion.

I agree. Our club should come first over any international game for any country

I’m pretty ambivalent tbh, but you’d think those arseholes at FIFA would be a bit more understanding of the issue for clubs in the middle of a global pandemic.

What are they supposed to do? Cancel the World Cup Qualifiers and pick names out of a hat?

And they’d probably lose

This has been a really unfortunate start to the season in terms of getting our preferred team out.

Absolutely farcical situation.  We lose two of our best players, again.
Not farcical at all. We signed Argentinian internationails so what do we expect? We also signed these players during the current pandemic and should have recognised the possible complications due to that. And we are not alone. This will affect many other PL clubs.

Except that all the other clubs are refusing to release their players, eg Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Man U Everton and Leeds with their Egyptian and Brazilian players. Also Newcastle with Almiron and Paraguay etc.
