Why should Arsenal give him a bonus if he is leaving instead of signing a new deal? And we're likely bumping up his wages and a signing-on fee. Selfish fecker.

If it's written into his current contract, Arsenal are obliged to honour it surely? Nothing to do with him being selfish.

Sky are saying personal terms yet to be agreed
Both way personal terms I guess need to be agreed. As soon as Arsenal realise they are delaying £20M into their kitty they will bung him half a million "bonus" to pay for his taxi ride to Villa Park.

Arsenal are pissed off he's going to us and are stalling in the hope a team from abroad comes in for him.

Not really. It's just what I do on champ manager when someone won't sign a new contract.

I'd have thought that if he hasn't actually put in a transfer request then Arsenal will be liable for any bonus or loyalty payments he was due, so he will want that sorted before any contract is agreed.

I wish he would just sign and come to the greatest Football Club in the world and not worry about bonus money.

I wish Arsenal would just pay him what they owe him and let him get on with it.

Why would you ever hand in a transfer request as a player or resign as a manager (if financial motives trump your general wellbeing) ?

Football is a small world, he's probably only got another two or three contracts left. He's not going to want the whole football world know that he's a pushover who can be stiffed on the financial side.

Either that or he's a greedy mofo.

At the top level I don’t think they ever do anymore. Makes more sense lower down the chain where the potential pay increase for a move outweighs anything you might be owed, but even there played will agitate for a move rather than actually putting in a request.

As for managers, we only have to look at ourselves to see how many we have been a brilliant retirement plan for over the last 10 years.

I've always believed a top goalkeeper is essential to any team, in fact I've always been confused why so little is spent on a top keeper compared to a striker when the keeper can win/save you as many points as a top quality striker.

Me too.  That's why I am always deeply suspicious (sceptical) whenever a club is willing (keen) to sell a keeper.

They’re not keen to sell him. In fact quite the opposite.
