This will be my most anticipated signing this window once confirmed. Seems like such a step in the right direction.
Me too, seems like the first time we've taken a player off a decent Premier League club that they've wanted to keep in ... well, too long.

Quite excited about this window, think we could end up with a very decent side.

I think we still need more cover at CB, unless someone in the youth set-up is ready to step up/

Telegraph reckon the deal is on hold due to unresolved complications between Martinez and Arsenal.

The Argentine only has two years left on his current Arsenal contract with the club postponing a renewal on several occasions.

Martinez and his representatives say the club committed to retroactively paying him a bonus once he signed a new deal and wants Arsenal to uphold that agreement even if he leaves to join Villa.

No , I’m a bit worried that people are thinking it’s a done deal, but it doesn’t seem to be yet. Brighton for one were sniffing around.

We're Aston Villa: we can snatch defeat from jaws of victory.

Don't sound like the problem is Villa. Problem is between Arsenal and the player. Out of our hands now by the sound of it.

Why should Arsenal give him a bonus if he is leaving instead of signing a new deal? And we're likely bumping up his wages and a signing-on fee. Selfish fecker.

This isn't the first time this has happened with transfers. The selling club and player usually reach a compromise.

Or the "personal terms" yet to be agreed is he's wanting us to cover what he thinks Arsenal owe him? (That actually sounds like one of those Nigerian scams)

It will be an argument over his loyalty bonus. (Probably)
