It hasn't been announced officially yet.

Aston Villa officially announce the signing of Martinez on a 4 year deal
My Villa supporting mate sent me a very official looking article with the "official" Villa logo on it. It stated that we have agreed a deal and he had signed. I shared it in good faith on here and sent it to plenty of others. Now I find out there's been no official statement so I have egg on my face. Apologies if turns out to be "fake news." Fingers crossed that we still get him.

Still nothing official, but John Percy is reporting the deal as done, so it probably is

Shouldn't really say 'Signed' if he's not officially 'Signed'

Fabrizio Romano
Aston Villa have completed the signing of Emiliano Martinez from Arsenal - contract signed until June 2024.

Jon Percy
"Emiliano Martinez is having his medical at Villa this afternoon. Deal worth around £20m agreed with Arsenal. Martinez set to start Premier League opener against Sheff Utd "

Tom Kershaw
"Emiliano Martinez will undergo his medical with Aston Villa tonight/tomo am, with a £20m deal agreed for the Arsenal goalkeeper"

And Gregg Evans says just waiting official announcement on Martinez being signed

Joe Bryan has signed for Fulham in a ‘I want to live in London and grab as much money as possible whilst pissing on the h and v chips.’  Said Joe after leaving the belfry.

So, not signed.

Club not announced it. By adding 'signed' to the thread title implies they have, when they haven't.

Don't get me wrong, in relative terms, I could not really give one tenth of one shit either way, am just pointing out, it's not official.

I've always believed a top goalkeeper is essential to any team, in fact I've always been confused why so little is spent on a top keeper compared to a striker when the keeper can win/save you as many points as a top quality striker. I'm certainly not concerned with the fee providing he's good enough. Everything I've read about him says he should be the Number 1 at Arsenal. Their loss our gain.

Ron Saunders brought in Jimmy Rimmer, for me the best ever Villa keeper but at a time when most were more than happy with John Burridge. It's a massive position, if we are to finalise the deal with Martinez, I for one will be happy that we are impatient to wait to see if our current Number 1 fully recovers. Time waits for no man and as a Villa supporter, about bloody time.

Onwards and bloody upwards!

Edit: Right now I'm actually looking forward to the new season.

This will be my most anticipated signing this window once confirmed. Seems like such a step in the right direction.

Let's hope sp and he's not the latest in a Generation Game like conveyor belt of not so cuddly keeper failures.

The last Arsenal goalkeeper we signed wasn't too shabby either..

Stuart  Taylor ?

No not him, was he for real?

Was thinking more like Jimmy Rimmer
