Very well deserved. One of our best signings in recent times.

I’d argue he’s probably one of the best signings we’ve made full stop.

Yeah, right up there with £110,000 Andy Gray and £500,000 for Peter Withe.

Delighted for Emi. We are blessed.

Platt, Yorke and God for just over half a million.

I liken it to God because they were both jettisoned much too early, and as we reap the benefit their supporters must wonder what if.

In my 55 years of following the Villa, it's only the second time that I've been able to look at the teamsheet and genuinely think that we've got the best player in world in his given position. The other time was when we had Paul McGrath.

Totally agree.

I always remember my close Dutch mate saying peak Gullit was best Dutch player post 70s  as it was like having 12 players on the pitch at times.

McGrath was and Emi is like that.

Look at Calvert Lewin chance when Konsa eventually nicked it. I mean he shat himself.

Once again, Shropshire's footballing Einstein showing what sets him apart from us mere mortals.

Joe Hart
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live commentating on Spurs v Villa

"Emi Martinez was voted the world's best goalkeeper, but he is not perfect and he lets soft goals in.

Even at the high level getting those accolade he lets soft goals in, but he doesn't let it affect him."

Oh marvellous, that’s got to be a few weeks out then. And it all stemmed from his own stupid mistake.

Declan Rice has been playing with a broken toe - surely we can strap Emi up and give him some drugs?
