From the videos I have seen, it just looks like the police just went in batons first for no reason whatsoever.

I can see a few hand raises in protection, some pushes back & some throwing of objects from Argentina fans in reaction, but I cant see what warranted a beating with batons.

I haven't seen any videos of Argentina fans starting that situation...

I imagine the segregation wasn't very good and perhaps the Argentinian fans had encroached, but that only justifies pushing them back. Not viciously aiming batons at people who don't seem to be showing any aggression or causing trouble beyond that.

Wouldn't have been impressed if emi had picked up a hand injury from a police baton.

Why? he was protecting people from getting battered, that's worth a lot more than football. life is a bit bigger than the Premier League Best League In The World Ever

I respect the shit out of him for trying to do something.

Having been a victim of police brutality & corruption myself, I can tell you this, the scars & trauma last a long time...

I heard that to maximise income they ignored segregation in that stand.

Name That Tune

He waits and waits
Does our Emi contemplate his fate
And does he know
The time he takes to throw
When we're winning he's so bold
'Cause he has been told
That this time wasting sees a sin unfold

So when Villa are flying and ahead
Thoughts running through his head
And he'll make sure the ball stays dead
He'll take a booking instead.

And through it all he offers us protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether he's right or wrong
And on the ball he falls
Wherever time it takes thee
He knows the winning stakes see
When he falls on the ball, play it out says Emery
I'm loving Emi Martinez

When he's playing weak
And suffers pain with no clean sheet
I look above
And I know I'll always want Emi to fill those gloves
And as the feeling grows
He scares strikers to the bones
And when we get ahead
He'll start timewasting instead

And through it all he offers us protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether he's  right or wrong
And on the ball he falls
Wherever time he takes thee
He knows the winning stakes see

When he's on the ball, he plays it out for Emery
I'm loving Emi Martinez

And through it all he offers us protection
A lot of love and affection
Whether he's right or wrong

And on the ball he falls
Whenever time he wastes clearly
He knows the winning stakes see
When he's got ballon d'or, just forget Messi
I'm loving Emi Martinez

Reads like a Coldplay outtake, something that should never have been shared.

Emi Martinez returned to #AVFC from international duty with a small pain, but Unai Emery is hopeful he will be fit to play on Sunday.

John McGinn is available, while Nicolo Zaniolo and Leon Bailey both trained alone this morning. Jacob Ramsey could be named in the squad.
