No surprise Messi won it again, however I was surprised watching the countdown that Martinez was beaten by another keeper in the Ballon D'or main list

Bounou helping Morocco to the World Cup semi finals with clean sheets against Croatia, Belgium, Spain (even keeping a clean sheet in the penalty shoot out) and Portugal, while also winning the Europa League with Sevilla seems like he's definitely got an argument.

I see a small section of the French Bad Losers Committee were out to greet Emi. Fuck them! Wankers! A few years ago none of them even followed football.
They are still annoyed that his leg was between us and a third star. Even SWMBO gets riled when she sees him on TV.  Very amusing.

Qatari human rights violations forgotten. Willy wave outrageous.

Isn’t his point “well how didn’t Bounou win the Yashine Trophy then”? I thought the same.

Because it's the same hundred people being asked to vote on multiple things.

So if you ask them "who is the best player in the world?", forty of them say Messi, thirty of them say Haaland, ten of them say Mbappe, five of them say Bounou and three of them say Martinez, then Bounou will be higher in their silly rankings than Martinez.

When the same hundred people are asked "who is the best goalkeeper in the world?", and eighty of them say Martinez and five of them say Bounou then Martinez will win the best goalkeeper award.

That makes sense. I was just pointing out that’s what I think Somniloquism was saying, not that Bounou didn’t deserve it.

Also lots of Red Scouse whining that it should have been Alisson.

And isn’t Ederson better than Alisson anyway?

If the Brazillian national side was half decent he might have been in with a shout.  As they weren't he didn't get the opportunity to make world class saves in the final or to cap his performances with masterful shithousery.

Given these things are always based on what the player has achieved rather than how good the player is anyway, Ederson should definitely have been ahead of Alisson in the voting based on all the trophies he won last season. Alisson is more often than not preferred for Brazil, so they presumably think he's the better player.

They're both top class keepers. Ederson has less to do but in some ways that's a harder job as a keeper as your concentration has to be razor sharp.

The big lad at Athletico is good as well, as is Courtois.

They're the four behind our boy.
