Clearly hates Emery, the club and city and is dying to leave at the first opportunity. Or in fact none of those.

He's also actively trying to unlearn Spanish too.

Being Argentinian, that won't be as difficult as it sounds.

I think I take the guy for granted, I expected him to save that free kick if it beat the wall.

I liked the way the wall was set, and that Martinez clearly had confidence in himself being able to save a blasted shot from Billing in pretty much the only direction he was going to aim it at (a more delicate chip to Martinez's other side would have been more difficult for him to stop, but he'd worked out that that wasn't going to happen, not from that particular player, from that short distance out).

He equalled Bosnich's and Friedel's record of 33 Premier League clean sheets yesterday, having played 99 league games. He needs a clean sheet away at Chelsea to take the record outright.

I sometimes think that stats like that can be a bit pointless and say more about the team circumstance than the keeper, but those are the 3 best keepers we've had in the last 30 years by a long way, and I think it's more impressive for Emi as the others played in better teams.

I'd have James over Friedel.

He's the only other one worthy of their company, just thought Brad was a bit more consistent.

I don’t think that’s correct, Bosnich has miles more than that.

Yeh didn’t Emi say the other day he was after Bozzie’s record of 62 or something while he was trying on his top?

I think that’s what a post by Drummond said recently. I’ve seen another site which says that Bossie had 50+ clean sheets in the Premier League. And he never played in the old first division for us, so it’s not a pre-1992 argument either.

I'd have James over Friedel.
What I like about Martinez is that he doesn't scream ¡lejos! whenever the ball comes in. Friedel shouting "away" used to annoy me more than it should.

I think the record is in regard to the number of clean sheets in their first 100 games.

Emiliano Martínez wrote his name into Aston Villa’s history books with a clean sheet against Bournemouth on Saturday.

A shutout against the Cherries was the Argentine’s 33rd in 99 Premier League games for the club, equaling the number accrued by both Mark Bosnich and Brad Friedel in their first 100 top flight games.

Ah, in their first 100 games. Bosnich got lots more than that overall.

Promising words from Martinez on staying here long term.

"My career went through the roof since I joined the club. I’ve always said I’m grateful to this club and I love being here.
My family is happy at the club, my boy is obsessed with playing football and he plays for the under-6s in the academy. We’re loving our time here and hopefully there are many years to come.”

I am not happy about that word "hopefully". I think that basically says he's off. I mean it's an open invitation to Levy to bid £10 for him in the summer.
