Emi Martinez must've thought to himself...

"Hope they don't put Ollie on. We're being sucked forward so much that he'll murder us on the break!"

He did say "sometimes when you are in front you have to atttack". He knows, he was probably standing there chuckling to himself watching the game take place at least 70 yards away from him at all times.

Because no one is willing to admit that Kane was pointless once we'd gone ahead.

Every solution offered relies on the assumption that Kane and Bellingham are untouchable, which is a problem when what the team is crying out for is a striker to stay high and chase lost causes and try to buy a few cheap free kicks up the field.

Tuchel feel into the trap that is always there with England of worrying about the press.

At the end of the day, in a game like that when we desperately needed legs and an outlet, he would have helped.

You can't volley the Ollie   8)

We didn’t get the ball in their half for most of the last 30 mins until it was to late so it wouldn’t matter who was on in a forward capacity l, we’d already surrendered the ball to Messi

It really was - my social circles based on my working and school geography of nigh on 4 decades are varied supporting bunch Derby, Forest, Leicester, Southend, Norwich, Wednesday and the other West Mids - I exclude Brummie or other Reds not from the vicinity of Manchester or Liverpool - all to a person agreed with that last evening.

Him and Rogers up top would have made sense. In reality, you could have had prime Shearer and Linaker up there it would have made no difference due to the way we played.

Tuchel got the squad selection wrong, which is why he was snookered last night: Rice was burnt out and Anderson got targeted early on by the Argies, leaving or central midfield screwed. Instead of Toney (with Kane, he only actually needed one back-up striker) and Mainoo (why take him at all if he gets no minutes?!) he should have taken Wharton and Scott.
Putting Konsa on as an extra defender was mad, because they needed an outlet up front. Which leads us to ...
... Watkins. I think Tuchel has absolutely shat on him at the altar of Harry: both vs Mexico and last night it was obvious that we needed someone to chase down the oppo defenders and make them 'honest' about how the ball was going to be used. Instead, Kane became a passenger.
