I can see him bagging another 5-6 goals across the 2 competitions. 3 more would see him beat his 2nd best tally in the 6 seasons he'd been with us. I couldn't see that on the horizon a few weeks ago.

I dream of Smirker posting something along the lines of, "These goals are all well and good, but what about Ollie's assists drying up?"

We should probably leave Smirker alone.

I disagree with him about Ollie, and have objected to his posts in the past, but he's entitled to his opinion.

We don't all have to agree on everything, do we?

It would be a very boring world if we were all the same I agree.

However, when it comes to Watkins, his dislike other than when Ollie scores 2 goals, seems an infantile obsession. Watkins has seen off Ings, Duran and Malen in terms of being main striker under our best manager in decades. Watkins is clearly (albeit a distant) second option to Kane at international level.

He is the best forward we have had since Yorke and the best actual goalscorer for 60 years.

Counter arguing is fine until the insults start being thrown about, playing the man not the ball.
Some of Watkins performances have been rotten this season, some have been very good.

I felt like he was done earlier in the season, such a low ebb. Credit to him for the huge up tick in form. Hopefully he gets to his 15 league goals very quickly.

I honestly believe players look at social media. Why wouldn't they, it's human nature and we all succumb to temptation.

For this reason, I credit Smirker with the upturn in form for Ollie.

Second to McGinns arse, Smirker has proven a major asset.

The next contract Ollie signs is likely to be with an assassin.

If that's the case with Ollie, and Michael Owen is correct that he plays better when angry, then we all owe a huge debt to Smirker for firing him up. He's basically done a Ron Saunders on Tony Morley.

On reflection, Smirker could be Unai Emery.

Sunday’s effort showed that Ollie was clearly affected by an ache or injury in the previous months of this season. All his best attributes have returned it seems. He can now go on a scoring spree that will get us a 3rd place finish, our first trophy in 30 years and will secure his place in the WC squad.

I was genuinely expecting something like "his assist to Rogers for the third was terrible, he should have played it on floor, and he's lucky Rogers' touch is so good."

Definitely on the movement side of things although his goals came from crosses from the wings / bylines into the 6 yard box which we weren't doing enough of most of the season and instead trying to play it across the edge of the 18 yard line instead.

I thought Ollie was done too to be fair to Smirker. Was like a statue at Old Trafford only a number of weeks ago, Lille away despite scoring he was horrendous. Any number of games throughout our sticky spell he was non existent. But Ollie is a resilient f*cker. Has hit a scorching hot streak at just the right time.
