A fantastic achievement for a player who has served the Villa tremendously, especially in this day and age, whereby players don't usually stay long enough at one club to accululate such numbers.

Well done Ollie. He’s had down moments this season and in part down to the lack of service. But he’s fighting through it. Maybe the thought that he might miss the WC was the kick up the arse he needed. But he’s been tremendous for us. Goals and assists. And general attitude and commitment to us since he joined.

I was watching that ‘all Ollie’s goals’ video the other day. So many of them were exactly the type of goal he scored tonight. We haven’t been creating them for him this season in anything like the same numbers.

Well done Ollie, fantastic achievement.

“Since his Villa debut on 15 September 2020, only Mohamed Salah (159) and Erling Haaland (157) have scored more goals than Watkins in all competitions.”

Imagine not enjoying this.

BBC referenced that since Ollie scored his first goal for us in September 2020, only Salah and Haaland have scored more.

As fans we expect the most and we can be the worst in terms of our criticism and of not appreciating the moment. I’ve certainly been guilty of that. But overall when you combine the assists he’s been brilliant for us.

This is the first time I have ever realised that Eric Houghton's first name wasn't Eric.

I was just thinking that Pongo Waring would have been an excellent name for a Wodehouse character, so was mildly pleased to see, having Googled, that one of his characters was a Pongo... Reginald "Pongo" Twistleton.

Not quite as good as Catsmeat Potter-Pirbright.

He was referenced on SSN breakfast show yesterday, when they were going on about Kane being the first Englishman since him to score 50 in a season. They called him Tony Waring. I nearly put the telly through.

Only you would find fault or anything remotely controversial about that
