Talking of Smirker, he was definitely around last night as he posted one specific post during the match thread, and has since not commented on Villa winning the match? Is he Ok?

Maybe he got rid of the cyst during the break.

The cyst must have been impacting his first touch! Between passing the first between the keepers legs and killing that corner dead for his second, it was like a different player. Second v West Ham wasn't a typical Ollie goal either.

Overtook Yorke in the Villa scoring charts last night.

Am I right in thinking there are only 2 players in the last 75 years who have scored more goals for Villa than this guy?

Dixon and McParland in the 50's and 60's.

I base this on absolutely nothing, but I reckon he might feel there are posters who actually don't want him on the site.

If it were me (I know, I know, as if anybody could dislike me!) I think I'd find that hurtful.

Ollie Watkins talks to TNT: “At half-time I said to the boys, ‘come on lads, we need to wake up. We got lucky, they had a disallowed goal.’

“Back end of the season I’m raring to go. I could play another 90 minutes right now. I’m excited for the last few games."

Say what you want about his poor control but you can't fault his attitude.

Where has this attitude been the rest of the season? It's taken until the last month of the season and for him to be dropped by England because of his form before a World Cup for him to show up.

And maybe finally getting over the condition that has been affecting him on and off and has been hinted at by Tuchel, Emery and the player.
Say what they like but he's never hidden and works his bag off.

He seems like a lovely bloke.

I watched that last night, it’s excellent, he’s a very humble lad. He’s not been right for a lot of this season and he knows it, but he keeps going. Our manager is brilliant too, you can see how Ollie talks about him.

So glad he’s finding form and looking sharp.

I thought it was a very honest interview from him.

The fact that he talks to various people inside and outside of the game shows a thoughtful and intelligent approach to life and the game.

Given that he's been talking to Michael Owen I hope he demonstrates the bravery to throw an apple in the bin.

He's now investing heavily in Dubai as a result.

Always loved him. He is a bastard because he really pushes me on whether he should be our centre forward during those barren patches. I don't think I've ever flipped as often on a player, but I've never turned on him and never will. He's been a key player for us over a long period now and he seems a really likeable lad too.

Would love him to finish the season on it and carry it into next season. Much prefer an in form Watkins over trying to find the next version of him, which whenever it happens, is going to be extremely difficult.
