I'm not sure why Liam Delap would be considered after this season.

We simply have no decent depth in the striker position.

Bellingham played that false nine or whatever it's called now very well for Real when he first there.

Ollie can't have any complaints really. Konsa might be a bit fortunate to retain his spot based on recent form.

Me too. Acquiring Asensio and Rashford felt like we popped into a jewelry store a bought things we simply couldn’t afford but looked fucking magic on our fingers and wrists. Gave us instant swagger. I miss watching those two play for us.

Based on the last 6 months it's DCL and Solanke. Which is shite backup to Kane.

Given that Kane has already scored fifty goals this season, feels much more of a future problem than a current one. And, most likely, someone else will have come through by the time Kane starts to fade.

Doesn't look to be anyone on the radar at all.

When Shearer was in his pomp we had Owen, and you knew he'd be a star.

Same for Rooney when Owen was at his peak.

Then Kane turned up when Rooney started to decline.

We don't have anyone like that knocking at the door.

Obviously someone could come out of nowhere but it doesn't look like it.

Liam Delap is probably the next best thing for England.

We do have about 50 midfielders and wingers though.

Yes.  There’s a big gap of forward talent post World Cup , assuming Kane retires.

I’m my lifetime England have generally had world class forwards.
Keegan.
Linekar
Shearer
Owen
Rooney
Kane

With support through those years with the likes of Fowler , Ferdinand, wright , (vassell), Merson, Bull ( briefly ), Cole , Sheringham, Le Tissier etc.

Some of those hardly played for England because of world class strikers ahead of them.

There’s just no one coming through that I can see who is the next world star.

Presumably, though, you wouldn't have seen Shearer, Owen, Rooney or Kane as likely England starters two or three years before they were.

We've a plethora of 10s, one or more of them will do it.

Fuck England.

Villa lads being selected to play for those shithouses is never good news.

Owen and Rooney definitely.

Owen already had a reputation as a wonder kid and had set records at youth level for England.

Rooney was a PL regular at 16 and starter for England at 17. Had excelled at youth level too.

But they both appeared when we had a top striker in their prime.

Right now we have a 32 year old world class striker and nothing in the youth that we can expect to take over in the same way.

Agreed. Another tapping up session for Rogers and Konsa.

People realised they were going to be good. Nobody expected Owen and Rooney to be brilliant so quickly and starring for England years in advance. And if your criteria is "scored loads of goals at youth level", then Shim Mheuka is probably worth watching.
