Not in the England squad, Calvert-Lewin in instead.

Hopefully that gives him a bit of a kick up the arse for the next couple of months.

Great news, I'd rather have him at BMH than playing for England.

He wasn't in the last one either. Although not being in one when 35 players have been selected is solely down to him.

How is Solanke in the England squad?

He was like the Watkins of old when he came on last night. Really impressed with him.

and more specifically why sell someone who was scoring and proving very useful even if not starting to do so?

Wasn't this cleared up? Malen thought he was a No9 and thought he should start more games as our lone striker, UE didn't think either of those things so he wanted to go and UE was prepared to let him. And then bought what he felt was a 'real' No 9.

Not in the England squad, Calvert-Lewin and Solanke both in instead.

Hopefully that gives him a bit of a kick up the arse for the next couple of months.

Let’s hope so, one of his goal scoring streaks would be very handy right now.

He can have no complaints whatsoever. He’s job is goals and he’s not doing his job. Don’t know what Solanke has done to warrant a call up mind.

Solanke has 6 goals in the last 2 months, not sure there's anyone of note doing better besides Kane.

Solanke has scored 3 in the league and plays for a bottom 5 club. If he played for Burnley he wouldn't be getting a look in.

Thought he was 'injured'?

I do it think it’s down to motivation.

Really? He always looks motivated but has clearly been lacking confidence during this run.

How is Solanke in the England squad?

They've named a massive squad and don't have a huge number of options at centre-forward.

He's scored 6 league goals since Christmas 2024, even being totally out of form for a large part of that time Watkins has 17.

Or how about Keinan Davis who has 9 this season and is joint 4th top scorer in Serie A or Welbeck who has 10 this season.

I absolutely don't have a problem with Watkins not being called up, his form has been awful, but Solanke shouldn't be anywhere near the squad, not least because there's no guarantee he'll manage to stay fit until the summer because he's made of glass.

We say players should be picked on form and Solanke is more in form than most of the options. Which says more about the lack of options than it does about Solanke being great.
