It’s a total mystery as to why he has lost his first touch and ability to kick it into the net.
He still gets into great positions and pulls defenders all over the place.
I wonder if they have had him talking to sports psychologists.

The penny has mostly dropped on here then, albeit after the title is long gone and CL qualification looks to be going. I said we'd pay for it months ago if he was still our starting striker. Sad that it's ended up happening.

Weird that he's 'injured' yet still being started every game when we've not long bought a new striker.

To be fair you called out his decline a long time ago 👍

I’ve been saying Salah is shit for 6 years. Turns out I was right all along.

Watkins first touch has always been shit the fact that he scored a lot of goals saved him, he will be gone seasons end along with half a dozen others, if we can sell them.

He won't be easy to shift because nobody's matching his wages unless Blues come up.

It appears he has a very serious case of the yips.

Whether that is permanent or temporary who knows. Presumably it's not happening in training., Which begs the question, why?

It cannot be good for morale, the players are seeing what we are seeing. They know every time they give him the ball , he will give it to the opposition.
It can not be doing Watkins much good either, he doesn’t want to be this shit but he can’t help it. His touch, pace, awareness, reaction times  and confidence have all gone.
It’s pretty sad.

Both us and Liverpool have seen their best attackers forms drop like a stone this season. Difference is they spent £300mil bolstering the attack and we spent £30mil.

This is why Tammy isn’t getting a start. Ollie is key to the team tactics, but also currently awful when trying to do the main part of his job. Unai will have to keep playing him through this, I reckon he’ll come good too. (No evidence to back this opinion up mind)

He hasn't come good consistently for nearly 18 months.

Tammy needs a run of games now and be shown the same faith. Watkins has what, 6 or 7 league goals in how many starts. Emery is one stubborn man, but blinded by faith in some at the moment. Watkins hasn't been anywhere near the same player since the end of the CL season, and it's declining by the month.

The same thing was levelled at Malen but the problem I have with it is that neither him nor Abraham have so far had the opportunity to have a run in the team, to build that kind of rhythm and understanding with teammates that Ollie is endlessly afforded.
