Ollie's on 95 goals for us - 5 away from 100. I hope Smirker isn't sat directly behind the Tifo when it comes down.

Movement, strength, running, technique, decision-making, finishing.

Any striker who ticks all those boxes is already playing for Real Madrid or Manchester City.

Watkins still ticks enough of them to be sufficiently good for us.

And that's how to Know Your Place.

Yep spot on.

Same fans who would have thought today we had no chance cos we always lose at Newcastle and described it as a *free hit'.

It’s not really, it’s not about know your place or any of that. The most important point is Unai Emery, who has brought us to where we are, knows the value of Watkins - the striker who has been playing to bring us to where we are.

It is.

We must accept we are little old Aston Villa and we can't aim higher than The Sacred Cow.

That’s got nothing to do with it. We all want the best and like many have said, we would want the best. As we can’t due to the rules to do with revenue, how do you explain how we sign the best or better on a shoestring?

Try and get over your agenda. It’s at the stage that if we win the title on the last day, and Watkins misses a few chances, but scores the winning goal, you’d probably be genuinely conflicted.

There’s no “sacred cow” or a belief he is the best in the world. What he is, is the striker who has consistently performed on our rise and is still doing it. That’s good for Aston Villa.

Mate, your that obsessed with Watkins not being good enough, that you couldn’t  help having a dig literally 5 mins after the match finished on the post match thread, its a bit sad to be honest.

It's as though Duran, Malen, Rashford, probably Tammy, and UEFA sanctions are all a dream.

I love it when Ollie scores as I know it absolutely pisses certain people off!

Fuck me you're patronising at times, which is made all the worse by the fact that, on this, you're 100% wrong as well.

No one is saying we can't aim higher or that it would be impossible to find anyone better.

What people are saying is that even spending £70-80m doesn't guarantee better and we don't have the headroom in our finances to cover that. So any signing we make will be a gamble not the simple task that you've tried to pretend it is for the last year.

You've gone beyond boring to having a pathetic little crusade to spread your pointless bullshit as quickly as possible at every chance, even if it means you're now constantly shifting the argument to try to cling on to whatever win you can find. Take the loss, give it a rest and get a new fucking hobby because most of the forum is fed up of your nonsense now.

I wouldn't.

If that happens I'll buy a Villa shirt with Watkins on the back.

Imagine being so obsessed with one player that after we've won you spend most of your time moaning about a goalscorer.

Discussion isn't moaning though. And it hasn't all been negative either.

Ollie has been a great servant for the club. I remember his first game at home to Sheffield Utd when he got their defender sent off early with his pace and hard running. It was very much ‘so this is what a striker who stretches defences looks like’ after the likes of Wesley, Samatta, Baston. Whilst not always being deadly or a natural finisher he would always, always cause defenders a problem with his pace, clever movement, pressing and dragging defenders out of their comfort zones into wide areas.

The big concern for me is that whether he is carrying an injury or his physical prowess have diminished (perhaps both), his use of the ball for the majority of this season has been woeful. He dithers on the ball too often and quite frankly, is a striker defenders would want to play against I.e., not physical, lacking in pace and gives you the opportunity to steal the ball from him. Perhaps having Abraham gives him more time to recover both physically and confidence wise, plus more opportunity to impact games in shorter periods of time (like away at Chelsea). The main thing is, I think he deserves the opportunity for the club and say, an Abraham, to help him out, get him working on his link up play mores, because he’s been a very good servant. Some sentiment should exist.
