Not happy to take lectures off millionaires who often under perform, it was bitterly cold yesterday and a lot of folks I saw leave early were going with their kids. We've had 30 years of winning sweet FA so maybe get a pot in the trophy cabinet before acting all billy big bollox?

I thought it was really flat yesterday and couldnt really understand why given we had just gone second in the league. Then I’ve never understood people leaving early, especially as most of them probably moan about the cost of attending so why not watch the whole game?

Mind I didn’t understand the forest fans
Singing yam yam yam yam…..at us. Unless there was some kind of irony in there somewhere.

So I clearly don’t understand that much. But I can understand Ollie saying what he did.

The night Bradford knocked us out the cup it was cold.

I was wearing just a jumper and thin hooded jacket.

Now that was cold.

Obviously shoes and socks, trousers etc.

Some fans were fine sarcastically cheering Rogers for completing a pass and being subbed earlier in the season, sarcastically cheering Emi yesterday for catching a cross and bouncing into player threads to call them shit during an 11 game winning run but then cry like babbies the second a player says anything they don't like.

It's nearly a century since we were as consistently great in the league as we have been in the three and a bit years since Unai arrived, look at how far back some of the records we're breaking are, so we absolutely shouldn't be taking it for granted.

Yep, definitely shouldn't be taking it for granted and should be accepting our rightful place below the 'big six' who of course all have unbelievable atmospheres at their grounds.  I mean nothing screams a great atmosphere more than 60,000 glory hunting tarquin tosspots holding up scarves and singing "Norf Laandaan Foreva" for a couple of minutes before a game.

I mean fans who fairly recently sat through three seasons in the Championship watching us struggle against the likes of Rotherham and Huddersfield aren't really the ones to call out for taking things for granted.

Completely agree. I don’t think he meant it as a knock against the fans. What we are experiencing as a fan base, especially for those of us who have seen very dark times, is beyond any reasonable expectations. We should enjoy it, live it, the lows and mostly highs. But I’m sure post Christmas, NY, early game, weather etc played a part. Villa Park is well known as one of the best places in the world in terms of environment and atmosphere. That is mainly down to the fans. And I’m surely it will be rocking next time.

I agree with this, and it reminds me of the time when the late, great Bob Willis, captain of Warwickshire C.C.C said members should be more appreciative of our success the John Player Sunday League 40 over tournament (many of us called it "rounders).

Then again, he once told the members in the old pavilion  that they should go home and moan at their wives.

I wrote this on another social media platform:

When I started to go to VP in the in the 1960's/70's, I said much the same thing.  We  used to deride the Upper Trinity as "the seats" and made full use of the terracing for aerobic exercise.

Sitting in the Lower Holte with a freezing NW wind  is a different prospect.

Loved his goal yesterday. We tried to pass the ball all the way into the net and Ollie is like, sod that, just belt the f**cker in.

His opinion was kind of refreshing in an age where most interviews with players/managers are an exercise in PR only. He did mention the early kick-off as a possible factor but when pressed by the interviewer who was sensing she had a scoop, he suddenly seemed to remember that what he was saying could make unwanted headlines.

Good job I said "some" rather than 'all'.

Sorry PWS, wasn't aimed at you personally but it has pissed me off to be quite honest.  I don't know who that interviewer was, but I genuinely can't see why she would ask that question when we've just won.at home again and give 2nd in the league.  No way she would ask a question like that to a Manchester City, Arsenal or Liverpool player.

It always seems there has to be a negative added when the media are taking about us.

"Aren't Villa doing well this season?"
"Yes, but they're not in the title race."

Edit - just rewatched it and to be fair to the interviewer, she doesn't bring it up initially, it's Watkins.

Journos work the angles, more now than ever.  Controversy and clicks.

I have been a supporter of Ollie on here when he was getting stick, but he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I also think our slow patient style, whilst obviously hugely effective, doesn’t generate blood and thunder type excitement in the crowd.

I agree mate and said this on the post match thread a short while ago
