How can you not grasp what is required from a modern forward not named Haaland, and that even an off form Ollie is far better at it than Malen or anyone else at the club?

You missed this, keep up.

I ignored it because it was completely irrelevant. Off form Ollie has been atrocious this season even ignoring his lack of goals so I don't know what point you're trying to make.

That you think it's irrelevant is exactly why you don't grasp it.

Your point was irrelevant to the discussion.

There is more to forward play than goals - yes, and?

Was Ollie playing well in those aspects earlier this season despite not scoring? No he was shit there too. Hence irrelevant.

Since the start of the 2020-21 season, only Erling Haaland (24) has scored more away Premier League goals in London than Ollie Watkins (18).

The key thing is that he does better in that role than Malen or anyone else at the club, even when he's off form. That's what you struggle with.

His 30 mins today were phenomenal. Hopefully that gives him the confidence to put a run together. Unfair on people to criticise Malen, we didn't get the ball up front until Emery changed the midfield and put Tielemans at 10. A straight swap Ollie for Malen, without changing the midfield and Ollie doesn't get a kick.

Smirker, mate, you are genuinely on your own here. He was fantastic today, he’s also been improving of late. Just enjoy it.

No he really doesn't, he has been the worst player on the pitch in most of the games this season. Your point would only make sense if he had done well in ways other than goalscoring but he hasn't.

I heard you like assists. How many of those has he got this season?

When has he started a game and touched the ball 6 times and made 2 passes after an hour? No one is saying he's played well all season, but it's blatantly obvious that week in and week out he's better as our lone striker than Malen or anyone else is. That isn't a slight on Malen, he's great at what he does, a lone striker in this Villa side isn't it though.

Watkins has likely started and touched the ball less than 6 times this season. Really wouldn't surprise me. If I was enough of a stats nerd to know where to look I'm sure I could find it.

There can't be many Villa fans out there in the world tonight, red in the face and furious that people won't agree with them about how shit Ollie Watkins is.

16 is the lowest in a league start. It's nearly always high 20s and above.
