I can't make my mind up. Would be interested to read a bit more on the topic if anyone has any strong opinions either way. Smirker, how do you feel about this issue?

The “we don’t score enough goals” thing is just nonsense. We started the season without scoring for 4 games. Once we’ve got going we’ve done fine.

Good point, if you ignore the games we didn't score enough goals then we've actually scored enough goals.

We're 3rd in the league.

Imagine where we'd be if we had a striker who scores goals.
Imagine where we'd be if we had a defence that didn't concede goals, works both ways

Don’t upset the ego Watkins, by signing a potential replacement - we need him to be our main striker he is not happy when his place in the team is under threat

Hope he gets back to his best firm this weekend

That would be crazy, we need another striker, as much as I love Ollie, he’s carrying an knock and out of form and Malen isn’t a front man. I don’t believe Ollie thinks that way anyway, it’s some made up internet nonsense, he’d want us to challenge and to do that we need a fit centre forward.

So what is his injury problem/ knock or whatever?

I do find it a little strange that he continues to play but is apparently injured and has been in for months now.

Some cyst on his knee was reported a couple of weeks back. Not sure that explains his poor hold up play on Sunday, mind.

If it is something like that , which is either inoperable or an operation would take him out of the game for several weeks/ months .
Either way this is seriously undermining any chance he has of going to the World Cup.
It’s a bit odd that there is no communication from the club.

The cyst and him carrying an injury came from the club I thought.

He's been playing in pain since the Euros, it is a cyst and his playing minutes and training are managed by the club.

Bloody hell! You’re on here enough, as much as most of us. It must have been said a million times he has a bloody cyst. It’s mentioned by both our manager and England manager.

This must be the worst football thread ever for going round and round! 🤣

Initially Tuchel, for the injury. Then clarified by Unai. Not sure where the cyst info came from.

No one from the club has gone on record to say it's a "cyst".  Tuchel said he was managing "an injury", Unai went on to explain it was a "knee injury".

What Unai ACTUALLY said, on the record before the Brighton game at the start of December:

'He has a small pain in his knee from last year when we started the season in August,' explained the Villa boss.

'Now he is feeling the same pain. He is not feeling 100 per cent and we are trying to manage it with him. We are trying to get to the stage where he is completely without pain – and through this, to feel better again and have the confidence to score.

'We want him to get to his best fitness, with no pain and playing consistently. For example, on Monday he did not train, but worked inside with the physios.

'But he will be available for Brighton. He won't have surgery but we are trying to get some rest for him because for this pain he needs rest.'

----

Make of that what you will, it might be a cyst, it might be something else.  All we know is it's bothering him, it doesn't require surgery, and Unai is trying to manage his workload until he's pain free again.
