He seems to have lost all composure in front of goal. He talked about learning to have moments of calm in front of goal but he’s gone back to snatching at chances and invariably hitting the goalkeeper. He did it again tonight when Guessand laid it on to him in the first 10 mins after the goalkeeper’s bad pass.

He just looks unhappy on the pitch and has done for a while.

Maybe sulking because he didn’t start against Spurs, the amount of times that he didn’t bother trying to receive the ball.

Yes I’m sure that’s it - he noticeably didn’t work hard when he came on against Spurs….

In my opinion his head is still out the door.  I think he made his mind up he wanted to leave in the close season.  It hasn’t materialised and he’s just not on it.   He has a tendency to be the sulking kind - see rashford ans ascensio situations last season.

What you say makes no sense.  If he goes off the boil he won't get the type of move you think he wants, so it's entirely counterproductive.

He's just not on top form right now.  Nothing deliberate but he's always been a streaky player.  Reading anything more into it than that is just Football Insider levels of speculation.

Or someone else’s opinion. Also is FI not to be trusted?

It makes no sense to us, but I agree with kippax
We’ve seen it a million times with footballers yeah we can’t understand it but it’s what they do, get in a Paddy about not getting their own way
I would say the same for Rogers and Martinez

Some players can put it behind them better than others ie Martinez

If he went to a Arsenal say or Man United he wouldn’t get the same leeway as he does at Villa
He wouldn’t have the same history or back catalogue as soon as they realize he’s got no touch can’t control the ball and hits it straight at the goalkeeper most times he would be in a world of pain

To coin an oft repeated phrase in football he’s the best version of himself because of Unai Emery without him he would be fucked imo

There seems a lot of players this season who haven’t started too well. Obviously our Ollie is out of sorts, Bowen looked quite lost last night. Mo Salah looks a shadow of himself and I think others have said Liverpools Robertson is way off the pace. I’ve never rated Wan-Bissaka but he looked very good last season, he was awful in the last two games. Chris Wood is another, but then their whole team hasn’t fired up. I’m sure there’s more out there not quite playing as good as they can.

Hopefully Ollie will regain his form as we really need him back to his best soon.
