I am not seeing a lot of movement off the ball from him and on the basis he is not brilliant back to goal with physical defenders he has to make himself available by moving.
He is not helped by the pedestrian style of play though.
.
He actually made three decent runs, Rogers found the Everton defence on all the occasions.

He's been poor this season, as have the rest of the team.

I've no idea why anyone would try to pretend that he was poor in previous seasons though, even going to the trouble of deciding that assists don't count as a positive contribution to suit an agenda.

Weirdo behaviour.

I never said his assists didn't count. Its posts like this that make the Smirker vs Watkins thing, a thing.

I said they didn't count when I was talking about his goal scoring. Only goals count when it's about goalscoring.

This just isn't true. Everyone else talks about him as a player, you then try to change the conversation to be about just goalscoring and we all disagree with you trying to do it and then, 50 posts later, you come out with this line as it we'll all forget that you're the only person trying to make the consideration about just goals.

No.

I made a post a while back that his goalscoring wasn't good and it went from there.

I am allowed to start a discussion solely about his goalscoring you know.

You are, but also acknowledge you very obviously are biased and have an agenda.

There isn't an agenda other than thinking he doesn't score enough goals.

It really didn't, this all started months ago from you and a couple of others, wanting him sold and thinking we could get a better option in with the money. Lots of people, correctly, pointed out that his overall contribution to us would be hard to replace. The player most similar to him that has moved this summer is Ekitike who was the best part of £80m.

Ever since you've tried to make the discussion be only about his goalscoring and have taken to cherry picking a date range to suit your argument. Overall his record as a Villa player is 87 in 227 or 1 in 2.6. That's not quite elite level but it is 'best of the rest' and certainly not as awful as you're determined to pretend. The reason people then talk about his assists is because they elevate him into at least being part of the discussion of elite level forwards in the premier league.

He's in poor form right now, as is the entire squad, but that doesn't mean we should be changing history to pretend he is anything less than the best striker we've had for the best part of 30 years.

The last 3 full seasons with us in the league

Yorke 46 in 102
Ollie 50 in 112
Benteke 42 in 89

Ollie scores at a very similar rate to the 2 strikers most of us would class as our best in the last 40 years.

He’ll score again, don’t know where, don’t know when, but I know he’ll score again some sunny day.

Benteke played in a shit team that got relegated and Yorke played half his time as a winger.

If either of those applied to Ollie you could cut him some slack for his poor goal record but not playing in a top team as the lone striker.

Ollie has been a huge influence in dragging us from the gutter years of the 2011’s and onwards to Europe.

The last 3 seasons. Yorke was a striker under Brian and Gregory.

And now we're a regular European side he should be judged accordingly.

He doesn't score enough.

17 in his last 63 apps is atrocious.
