In that if Man Utd did want to pay us enough money to make us want to sell Watkins, they're probably buying him because they expect him to lay on ten goals each for Mbuemo and Cunha, rather than him just standing on the six yard line knocking in their cut-backs.

They could probably just train Hoilund to do that. Given that Watkins can do all that stuff whereas other strikers can't.

Subbed in on only 11 games but can't find a stat on whether he got a goal or assist in those specific games. My mind remembers a sulking Watkins making little impact off the bench. So if we think he's on the slide or near it then cash in. He just doesn't cope well with competition.

I'd back him to be back to his very best next season.

A lot of his sub appearances were only for 10 mins or so. Southampton away is the one where he came on earlier and made a difference.

As a side we were less effective going forward last season imo. Without Bailey and Diaby playing well on support I think Ollie did well.

True but even if he dropped slightly, Duran picked up the slack with 12 goals, Rashford picked up 4 goals for us when playing at 9 I think. So 33 goals (all comps) from our strikers was fair going. No idea how we get near that again even with Ollie staying.

No matter what money we got for Duran he was an unbelievable loss talent wise. I don't doubt we were open to offers for Ollie last January around the time Duran was on fire. That harsh enough sending off at Newcastle was a bit of a sliding doors moment and Ollie got back in. Slightly comical effort at Monaco when Emery tried them up top together was the final straw maybe.

Think we do all we can to get Ollie to stick around for another season anyway. World Cup ahead next summer, strong season with us as the main man and he won't be far off starting for England.

Duran could definitely score, the problem was when he wasn't scoring we had nothing else from him. If you could get a mix of both players then that player would definitely be world class and wouldn't be playing for us.

Watkins is very good. Does he miss too many easy chances , yes 100%.
Think about the Arsenal home game last season , exhibit A . Win that game it's a different season.

I've just watched Henry Winter state on Sky that Utd wouldn't pay over the odds for Watkins as he only has a year left on his contract. Which actually runs until 2028. They haven't got a fecking clue.
