Presumably the lack of Watkins is an injury precaution rather than him not being chosen?

Hasn't played particularly well when Tuchel has been in attendance recently.

Good, he needs to have a rest and hopefully come back sharper in 2 weeks. No point in playing a couple of Eng matches.

Agree with this, whatever the reason for his omission is.

For the same reason, I wouldn't have been too upset if Konsa missed out.

I was hoping none of them got selected so they could have a rest Rogers in particular.

I hope it's because he's got a knock, because he's a confidence player, and we need him firing on all-cylinders for the last 2 months of the season.  With some players, getting dropped can be a huge motivator, with Ollie I wonder if it might have the opposite effect.

I'm hoping he proves me wrong and flies from now until May!

Hasn't played particularly well when Tuchel has been in attendance recently.

But I'm guessing he hasn't lived completely in a bubble and is unaware of the stuff he's done in other matches. It would be hard argument to make that Solanke with his one goal in the last nine games is performing better.

He looked in pain when he was subbed on Wednesday

Only 26 goal involvements this season - just terrible...

I'm glad he is getting a break though.

Watkins has far better goals/assists numbers than Bowen and Solanke. Almost as many as the other two together.

I don’t think either are International level, but Watkins recent form has not been great.

Thirteen goals / assists in his last sixteen games. His form is absolutely fine.

Yup people misunderstand narrative with what he actually delivers.

Watkins is out with a minor knee injury, rather than not selected.

So that's fine, nice rest for him with no need to stress about his place.

There's nothing wrong with Watkins and his contributions to the team. He was obviously not quite right on Wednesday and was sensibly withdrawn. Better he now rests his knee and recovers with the Villa squad rather than suffering bum splinters, watching Jordan Henderson amble around Wembley.
